Episode 9 recap: Yu Jing agreed to stay in her hometown.
As Chen Gui Hua opened the door, Gu Jia Hui's current stepmother fell down on the ground. Chen Gui Hua told her that she didn't need to show respect during this inappropriate time and asked what the so-called "old mistress" wanted. The woman claimed that she had rented the house at three times the price and demanded that Chen Gui Hua move out immediately.
Chen Gui Hua pretended to have been in a car accident. Gu Jia Hui and Yu Jing, upon hearing this, quickly returned to their hometown. The neighbors warmly welcomed them back. Chen Gui Hua then walked out of the house perfectly fine, and Yu Jing asked why she was fine if she had been in a car accident.
Chen Gui Hua admitted that she had deceived them. Yu Jing called herself foolish for being deceived again. While having a meal, Yu Jing told Chen Gui Hua her stance that she would not get involved in the dispute over the family property. Gu Jia Hui also agreed with Yu Jing's idea, and they planned to finish their meal and leave.
Unexpectedly, Chen Gui Hua added some alcohol to the food in an attempt to keep them there. With no other choice, the two had to stay overnight. Yu Jing noticed a box and opened it, finding a tie inside. Gu Jia Hui became furious upon seeing the tie and immediately went to confront Chen Gui Hua, telling her not to waste her scheming because they would not stay.
Yu Jing learned that the tie was left by Gu Dequan. Seeing Gu Jia Hui sitting alone in a daze, she approached him and told him that she was willing to stay because she didn't want to see him suffering alone. Gu Jia Hui asked her to think it through, as it was a trap set by Chen Gui Hua.
Yu Jing told him that she willingly entered the trap for him. Chen Gui Hua was delighted upon hearing this, but then Li Xiaolian arrived to drive them away.
