Episode 26 recap: Luo Xiang Qian shot and killed Chen Yuanlong, and Sha Kai was being coerced by Li Muyang.
The captain called Luo Xiang Qian over and instructed him to ensure the smoothness of the Yongchuan Inauguration Ceremony, emphasizing that there should be no mistakes. Since Luo Xiang Qian had previously worked as a reconnaissance soldier, he was assigned to cooperate with the local police along the route to conduct investigations and eliminate any potential sabotage by the Kuomintang spies. Sha Kai was in a state of panic, as Chen Yuanlong had already handed him a cookie box containing a timed bomb and ordered him to bring it to the scene at all costs. He was warned that if he tried anything suspicious, there would be many eyes watching him, and he would be killed on the spot.
Sha Kai knew that this was a death sentence, so he became anxious and confused. Luo Xiang Qian and Zhang Biao had already gone to the forward station, and Ye Lan led the personnel who were going to attend the inauguration ceremony to get ready to depart. However, Sha Kai claimed to have a stomachache and asked everyone to go ahead without him.
After everyone had left, Sha Kai was alone in the dormitory, filled with fear and unease. He held the bomb and didn't know what to do. After thinking for a while, he carefully opened the box and used scissors to cut the bomb's fuse. However, he was frightened and burst into tears. Meanwhile, Luo Xiang Qian and Zhang Biao led soldiers to patrol the outskirts of the station, while Chen Yuanlong planted explosives with the spies ten miles away from the train station.
During an inspection, Luo Xiang Qian discovered Chen Yuanlong and the spies. He ordered them to raise their hands, but Chen Yuanlong sneered and asked Luo Xiang Qian to spare him since the bomb was right beneath his feet. As Luo Xiang Qian looked down, Chen Yuanlong took the opportunity to escape. Luo Xiang Qian shot and killed both of them, then evacuated everyone and dug out the bomb before throwing it away just before the train arrived.
The captain praised Luo Xiang Qian and Zhang Biao. Although they couldn't participate in the Yongchuan ceremony, they successfully thwarted the sabotage by the Kuomintang spies. However, the captain and Luo Xiang Qian found the situation suspicious. Before the incident, the captain received a phone call from an unidentified person, revealing the Kuomintang spies' plan to bomb the railway tracks. But when the captain asked the caller's identity, they hung up hastily.
The captain said that this incident indicated that the spies were familiar with our internal affairs. He ordered Luo Xiang Qian and Zhang Biao to find the person who made the phone call. When Luo Xiang Qian and Zhang Biao returned to visit Sha Kai, he claimed to be feeling better. Zhang Biao volunteered to stay and take care of him, and after a few instructions, Luo Xiang Qian left.
Sha Kai asked Zhang Biao about the situation of the Yongchuan Inauguration Ceremony and learned that Chen Yuanlong had been shot dead. Sha Kai breathed a sigh of relief but became nervous again when he heard that Sui Li had escaped. Zhang Biao cautiously asked him if he had ever had a drink with Chen Yuanlong, to which Sha Kai reacted with panic and confusion.
Zhang Biao reported Sha Kai's unusual behavior to Luo Xiang Qian. Luo Xiang Qian believed that this matter was of great importance and insisted on keeping it confidential until they found evidence. The captain assigned a task to everyone to construct the Yongchuan Tuojiang Bridge, the largest bridge on the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway.
This task was extremely important, so the captain arranged for the First and Second Platoons to work together to complete the bridge construction. Sha Kai was restless. He did report the spy incident to the captain over the phone, but he wasn't sure if he would be credited for it. Sha Menghai came to visit Sha Kai, and Sha Kai asked him to find a way to transfer him back to the city. However, Sha Menghai disagreed and told him to make a name for himself there before considering going back.
Sha Kai then revealed his involvement with Chen Yuanlong to Sha Menghai. Sha Menghai immediately became angry and scolded him for being foolish. If Sha Kai was really connected to Chen Yuanlong, then their relationship would have to be reconsidered. The First and Second Platoons both arrived at the construction site of the Tuojiang Bridge. Luo Xiang Qian and Zhou Fengzi still had their confrontations as before, and Ye Lan advised Luo Xiang Qian to be more polite to Captain Zhou.
Luo Xiang Qian gathered everyone for a seminar to discuss whether the existing bridge piers left by the old government could be used. Ye Lan suggested making a decision after conducting a field investigation. They couldn't find Sha Kai, and heard that he had gone fishing. Ye Lan remarked that he was neglecting his duties. Sha Kai followed Li Muyang to a secluded house where Sui Li had already prepared food and drinks. Li Muyang urged him to drink, but Sha Kai claimed to have a stomachache. Sui Li affectionately took his hand and forcefully placed the cup in it. Li Muyang persuaded Sha Kai to let loose and join them. Since he had boarded this ship, he couldn't easily get off. Sha Kai appeared hesitant and admitted that he didn't have any skills and couldn't handle this kind of work.
