Episode 28 recap: Li Muyang was completely wiped out, and Zhang Biao died heroically.
Sha Kai brought an introduction letter for Li Muyang, but Li Muyang ordered him to be tied up to prevent him from ruining their plan to blow up the bridge. Li Muyang gathered the spies together to discuss how to blow up the bridge. They planned to use a boat loaded with explosives to ram into the bridge piers. However, they didn't have enough explosives, so Li Muyang suggested using sugar and alcohol. Sha Kai, who was bound nearby, overheard their conversation.
Luo Xiangqian and Zhang Biao were discussing preparations for the ceremony. They were so busy that they didn't even have time to eat. The cook brought them food and asked about Sha Kai, who hadn't eaten either. Luo Xiangqian and Zhang Biao found it strange and sent the cook to look for him elsewhere.
Li Tianzhu accompanied his sister Ku Mei and Wang Lan Zhi to the town to buy things. They happened to encounter a spy buying sugar. Sha Kai ran in a panic and told Luo Xiangqian that enemy agents were planning to use a boat loaded with explosives to blow up the bridge. Luo Xiangqian was surprised and asked how he knew. Sha Kai lied, claiming that he overheard the spies talking by the river while he was fishing. He was about to report it when the spies discovered him and tied him up in an abandoned warehouse. He managed to escape with great difficulty and rushed back to deliver the message. Luo Xiangqian immediately sent Wu Zhi to find Zhang Biao and instructed him to intercept and inspect any boats they encountered.
Luo Xiangqian then made a phone call to the brigade commander to report the situation. After hearing the news, Zhang Biao immediately led his men to patrol along the riverbank. They spotted a boat loaded with cargo coming towards them. However, the occupants not only refused to comply with their orders but also opened fire on them. Zhang Biao and his men immediately returned fire. As the boat approached the bridge piers, Zhang Biao fearlessly jumped into the water and swam towards it. Single-handedly, he pushed the boat filled with sugar in the opposite direction of the bridge piers.
Luo Xiangqian, standing on the shore, saw it and loudly warned that the explosives on the boat were about to explode. Everyone heard a deafening roar and saw flames shooting up from the river surface. They all rushed to the riverside. The bridge was unharmed, and Li Muyang exclaimed in frustration, "They're all useless." Zhang Biao was nowhere to be found, and everyone jumped into the water to search for him.
Sha Kai asked Luo Xiangqian to lead a team to annihilate Li Muyang, claiming that he knew where his hideout was. Luo Xiangqian was displeased with his attitude and said that he didn't trust him completely, but due to the urgent situation, he allowed Sha Kai to lead the way. When Li Muyang returned to his hideout, he discovered that Sha Kai had escaped. He immediately ordered his men to pack up and leave, but it was too late. Luo Xiangqian led his forces to surround the hideout, and after a fierce battle, all of Li Muyang's men were eliminated. Li Muyang was trapped inside the house, fighting desperately, but in the end, Luo Xiangqian shot and killed him.
After seeing Li Muyang fall to the ground with a gunshot, Sha Kai finally felt relieved. The search for Zhang Biao continued, but his whereabouts remained unknown. Eventually, they only found fragments of Zhang Biao's exploded military uniform on the water's surface. Luo Xiangqian arrived and couldn't believe that Zhang Biao had sacrificed himself like this. He went crazy, calling out Zhang Biao's name loudly as he dived into the water. It wasn't until Captain Zhou pulled him ashore that he was brought back to his senses. He took off his coat and solemnly wrapped up Zhang Biao's military uniform. When Wang Lan Zhi heard about Zhang Biao's accident, she rushed over without hesitation. Upon learning that Zhang Biao had died, Wang Lan Zhi couldn't accept this fact and fainted.
Luo Xiangqian ordered the soldiers to raise their guns and fire in tribute to Zhang Biao. That night, under the lamplight, Luo Xiangqian wrote a report to his superiors, detailing the heroic sacrifice of Zhang Biao.
