Episode 5 recap: Sha Kai caused a disturbance at the construction site, leading to a conflict with Luo Xiang Qian.
Sha Kai proposed finding a quiet living condition, which is not unreasonable. Luo Xiang Qian reluctantly went to find Mayor Guo, who then introduced them to Widow Wang Shuxian's house. Wu Qiang believed that there would be a lot of gossip around the widow's house and questioned whether it would be inconvenient for Sha Kai to live there. However, Luo Xiang Qian thought that a widow wouldn't harm him, so they settled there.
After Sha Kai moved in, Wang Shuxian took care of him attentively. However, Sha Kai expressed his obsession with cleanliness and did not allow Wang Shuxian to enter and leave his room freely. While the sun was shining brightly and the soldiers were sweating while working at the construction site, Sha Kai stayed in the shade. Luo Xiang Qian told him to quickly mark the lines, but Sha Kai claimed that the sun was too harsh and he would get heatstroke if he stayed out for too long.
Helpless, Luo Xiang Qian had to assist him in marking the lines, and the soldiers criticized Sha Kai's behavior. Sha Kai showed disgust at the sight of it and refused to eat.

Seeing this situation, Luo Xiang Qian loudly announced the rules to the soldiers, demanding that they must show sufficient respect to Technician Sha, or else he would deal with them. Witnessing that Sha Kai hadn't eaten, Wang Shuxian cooked her stored bacon for him. Taking advantage of the situation, Sha Kai asked Wang Shuxian to help him buy rice.
Wu Qiang led the soldiers to work hard to find broken stones for roadbeds. However, when they brought them back, Sha Kai dismissed them without even looking, stating that they were not suitable. Luo Xiang Qian, unable to bear it any longer, got into a heated argument with Sha Kai. Sha Kai demanded that the kitchen staff cook rice exclusively for him in a food container filled with rice. Sha Kai's actions clashed with those of the soldiers. To stabilize Sha Kai, Wu Qiang approached the head of the kitchen staff and asked him to take care of Sha Kai appropriately. He also instructed him to return Sha Kai's rice. In order to catch up with the schedule, everyone endured Sha Kai's behavior. Zhang Biao sternly criticized his brother and others, ordering them not to gossip about Sha Kai behind his back.

Li, an agent of the remnants of the Kuomintang, colluded with local bandits and caused trouble on the construction site of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway. They even had official appointment documents, pretending to be authorized to carry out such activities.
The soldiers worked hard in wind and rain to build the railway for the people of Sichuan and even constructed a straight and flat road for them. The villagers were deeply moved by their efforts. Led by Mayor Guo, they expressed their intention to bring relief supplies to show their support.
