In the sixth year of the Yu Dynasty, there was a hidden uprising by a rebel party, prompting the imperial court to establish the Surveillance Department and the Secret Guard Bureau, one overt and one covert, to safeguard the security of the state. On the eve of the Lantern Festival, a sudden incident occurred in the palace. The imperial concubine, Chen Fei, was found murdered in her chamber, discovered by Chen Bao when he came to call her. Leng Mo Yan, the deputy chief of the Surveillance Department, led his team to investigate the scene. At that moment, Jiang Bie Yan, the commanding officer of the Secret Guard Bureau, also arrived on orders. However, before they could enter the scene, Leng Mo Yan ordered Jiang Bie Yan to leave.
After being driven away, Jiang Bie Yan vowed to report Leng Mo Yan. It was then that Mei Shi Qi from the Secret Guard Bureau appeared, intending to investigate the murder of the imperial concubine. Chen Chong and Chen Tian blocked Mei Shi Qi at the door, but unexpectedly, Mei Shi Qi launched a direct attack on the two of them, forcibly entering the imperial concubine's chamber. It was at this moment that Leng Mo Yan opened the door.
Upon seeing Leng Mo Yan, Mei Shi Qi immediately recalled what her senior brother had said, confirming that Leng Mo Yan was a ruthless person, which frightened her with his indifference. Leng Mo Yan woke up, and Mei Shi Qi immediately tried to escape, but she didn't expect that Leng Mo Yan had set up a trap at the door. Mei Shi Qi used her sword to break through the trap and was about to flee when Leng Mo Yan caught her. Fortunately, at that moment, her senior brother Zhen Shi San arrived and rescued her. After Mei Shi Qi escaped, Shi Jian Chuan came with reinforcements, and Leng Mo Yan immediately questioned him about the waist token.
Shi Jian Chuan claimed that the waist token had been lost two days ago. Leng Mo Yan revealed the incident of the waist token being in Mei Shi Qi's possession, instructing Shi Jian Chuan to retrieve it from her. That evening, Shi Jian Chuan went to find Mei Shi Qi and demanded the waist token from her. However, Mei Shi Qi regarded Shi Jian Chuan as a suspect and prepared to interrogate him.
Using the excuse of verifying the authenticity of the waist token, Shi Jian Chuan snatched the waist token from Mei Shi Qi and led her into a trap set in advance by Leng Mo Yan. Leng Mo Yan believed that no one could escape his trap and felt triumphant with Shi Jian Chuan. However, Mei Shi Qi launched a surprise attack, not only teasing Leng Mo Yan but also taking away the waist token.
Leng Mo Yan felt that there must be another plot behind the Secret Guard Bureau's arrangement of sending Mei Shi Qi as a newcomer. After being teased, he could only request Shi Jian Chuan to be more vigilant. Mei Shi Qi realized that Leng Mo Yan was not easy to deal with, so she returned and tried to bribe and please Zhen Shi San, seeking his help. Finally, Zhen Shi San provided Mei Shi Qi with a weakness of Leng Mo Yan.
