Episode 17 recap: Leng Mo Yan angrily investigates Shen Gu Feng.
Leng Mo Yan feels jealous and believes that Shen Gu Feng is suspicious, so he orders someone to thoroughly investigate Shen Gu Feng. Leng Mo Yan thinks that Shen Gu Feng might be a spy from the country of Xin Luo, but Shen Gu Feng doesn't have any Xin Luo accent, leaving him unsure whether it's true or not. Leng Mo Yan deliberately brings along a person from Xin Luo to have a meal with Shen Gu Feng, hoping to uncover the truth about Shen Gu Feng. Unexpectedly, Shen Gu Feng doesn't shy away from his identity as someone from Xin Luo at all.
The person from Xin Luo says that he has heard of Shen Gu Feng in their home country and greatly admires him. After praising Shen Gu Feng, the person from Xin Luo also praises Mei Shi Qi because Mei Shi Qi is someone whom Shen Gu Feng likes. After complimenting both sides, the person from Xin Luo presents a gift to Mei Shi Qi and even suggests a marriage proposal to the Emperor Yu. However, as soon as the words are spoken, both Leng Mo Yan and Mei Shi Qi refuse simultaneously.
After being rejected, the person from Xin Luo is driven away by a few words from Leng Mo Yan, and as a result, Shen Gu Feng leaves early with Mei Shi Qi. Shi Jian Chuan has nothing to do and upon learning that Leng Mo Yan invited Shen Gu Feng and the person from Xin Luo to a banquet without involving him, he starts to feel that Leng Mo Yan no longer trusts him.
Unhappily, Shi Jian Chuan walks around and unexpectedly encounters Nan Gong Xiu, who is drunk, so he accompanies Nan Gong Xiu in drinking alcohol together.
Shi Jian Chuan persuades Nan Gong Xiu not to focus solely on Leng Mo Yan, as there are others who value Nan Gong Xiu dearly, although Nan Gong Xiu is unaware of this.
Nan Gong Xiu and Shi Jian Chuan get drunk and accidentally have a one-night stand. When Shi Jian Chuan wakes up, he realizes that he has done something wrong to Nan Gong Xiu and can only quickly get dressed and leave. As Shi Jian Chuan leaves, he realizes the impropriety of his actions. When he considers going back, he sees a signal from Leng Mo Yan, so he can only return to the Bureau of Investigation for now.
Leng Mo Yan announces that there will be an attempt on Emperor Yu's life by the Wolf Eagle Guard tomorrow, and assigns various departments to be on high alert. However, Shi Jian Chuan is not included, which makes him feel even more untrusted by Leng Mo Yan. Shi Jian Chuan questions Leng Mo Yan about the reason, and Leng Mo Yan says that Shi Jian Chuan is already involved in the case and is not suitable for participating in the operation, but Shi Jian Chuan doesn't understand.
Leng Mo Yan explains that Chen Chong told him that Shi Jian Chuan entered his room before Luo Qing Chen was poisoned, and after that, Chen Chong disappeared, making Shi Jian Chuan understand the seriousness of the situation.
