Episode 18 recap: Lord Jinguang Palace revealed his true face.
Thinking that Leng Mo Yan didn't believe him, Shi Jian Chuan contemplated committing suicide to prove his innocence. However, Leng Mo Yan directly knocked his sword away and asked him to accompany her to Jinguang Palace to protect Emperor Yu. After meeting Leng Mo Yan, Shi Jian Chuan returned home to face Nangong Xiu. Nangong Xiu, on the other hand, intended to tease Shi Jian Chuan and questioned him about the incident that had tarnished her innocence the previous night.
When Shi Jian Chuan was questioned by Nangong Xiu, he immediately thought of committing suicide to prove his innocence. However, to his surprise, Nangong Xiu stopped him and expressed her affection for him. Nangong Xiu explained that previously, she only had eyes for Leng Mo Yan and couldn't see how good Shi Jian Chuan had been to her. Now she realized Shi Jian Chuan's kindness and confessed her strong liking for him.
After Nangong Xiu's confession, she directly kissed Shi Jian Chuan. At that moment, a person in a black mask lured Shi Jian Chuan away, indicating it was time for him to take action. Shen Gu Feng took Mei Shi Qi around, enjoying delicious food, while Leng Mo Yan, holding Emperor Yu's imperial order, declared his authority over the Three Departments and Sixteen Offices and announced his intention to take Mei Shi Qi to solve the case.
Leng Mo Yan got into an argument with Shen Gu Feng, and Mei Shi Qi requested to hear her opinion. She asked to return to the Hidden Guard Bureau. Leng Mo Yan explained that the Hidden Guard Bureau was also under his jurisdiction. Then he held Mei Shi Qi's hand and left, making Mei Shi Qi ecstatic.

It was then that Leng Mo Yan stated that Shen Gu Feng's attempt to frame him would not succeed. Emperor Yu publicly revealed Leng Mo Yan's true identity, stating that Leng Mo Yan was his trusted advisor, Lu Qinghou. The real Leng Mo Yan had been killed long ago, and intentionally not mourning his death, Emperor Yu had the companion, Lu Qinghou, impersonate Leng Mo Yan and continue to oversee the inspection department.
Emperor Yu provided evidence of Leng Mo Yan's identity, while Shen Gu Feng claimed that Leng Mo Yan had another identity as the illegitimate child of the late emperor. Shen Gu Feng produced private correspondence between Leng Mo Yan's mother and the late emperor to support her claim, and Emperor Yu confirmed that Leng Mo Yan was brought back to the palace by the late emperor and given the name. Thus, Emperor Yu had no doubts about Shen Gu Feng's words.
Leng Mo Yan admitted his identity but insisted that he had no intention of treason. However, Emperor Yu did not believe him and had him thrown into the dungeon.
