Episode 9 recap: Zi Chuan Xiu discovered a secret in Chunfeng Garden.
Yang Ming Hua sensed that something was amiss. Iron Hand never returned late from a mission, so there must be something unusual going on today. Luo Ming Hai hurriedly left to investigate and came back to inform Yang Ming Hua that there had been a collapse at the mine. Yang Ming Hua anxiously asked if there were any casualties.
Luo Ming Hai told him that he was waiting for news while having tea. Yang Ming Hua felt relieved, thinking that if there were no casualties, it would be fortunate. However, Luo Ming Hai believed that the truth would eventually come out and hastily informed Yang Ming Hua that earlier in the morning, someone opened a paper that belonged to Yang Ming Hua and found relief supplies for the disaster-stricken people in the city stored in the Dak Hang Tai's granary.
Before Yang Ming Hua could react, he received a report that Iron Hand had been assassinated outside. Yang Ming Hua was shocked and furious. It was evident that someone wanted to remove his right-hand man. This made Yang Ming Hua very angry, and he ordered his subordinates to thoroughly investigate and report back to him. Just as he finished speaking, another person reported that Zi Chuan Shen Xing had come to find him.
Zi Chuan Shen Xing approached Yang Ming Hua to complain. He expressed how exhausting it had been for him to deal with government affairs these past few days, and he finally understood and deeply admired Yang Ming Hua's daily efforts. Zi Chuan Shen Xing stated that from now on, he would entrust all matters, big and small, to Yang Ming Hua, as he himself lacked the ability to handle such things.
Yang Ming Hua found Zi Chuan Shen Xing's attitude somewhat strange. Zi Chuan Shen Xing explained that he had a dream about an old man asking him about governance and serving the people. When he woke up this morning, he was greatly disturbed by this and confessed to Yang Ming Hua that before leaving, he was afraid that Yang Ming Hua would rebel. Upon seeing this item, Yang Ming Hua's expression subtly changed. Zi Chuan Shen Xing continued, saying that before his death, their older brother had placed a spy next to Yang Ming Hua, and Yang Ming Hua knew it was Tong Chui. Zi Chuan Shen Xing declared that he had no intention of participating in the power struggle within the court and entrusted all authority to Yang Ming Hua.
Yang Ming Hua mentioned that one of his subordinates had just died that day and requested a high price for one day. Yang Ming Hua found Tong Chui and was astonished to learn that Tong Chui had known Zi Chuan Shen Xing before him. Tong Chui stated that his mission was to monitor Yang Ming Hua and, if Yang Ming Hua rebelled, to kill him on the spot. However, if Yang Ming Hua remained loyal, Tong Chui swore to follow him to the death.
Yang Ming Hua always felt like a joke. He wasn't trusted by his brothers and was doubted by the person closest to him, causing him immense pain. He decided to rebel and kill Tong Chui. Yang Ming Hua stood in front of Zi Chuan Shen Xing's grave and expressed his determination not to disappoint his elder brother. He had tried to protect Zi Chuan after his brother's death, but now he was being suspected by his own elder brother.
Zi Chuan Ning woke up and saw Zi Chuan Xiu by his side. He pretended not to recognize Zi Chuan Xiu, who was a rascal. Zi Chuan Xiu wanted to make Zi Chuan Ning happy and promised to do anything for him. Zi Chuan Ning asked Zi Chuan Xiu to cross-dress and swear to follow him to the death.
Zi Chuan Ning remembered driving Zi Chuan Xiu away. Bai Chuan couldn't understand when his identity was exposed and discovered by Zi Chuan Xiu. Zi Chuan Xiu told Bai Chuan that his identity was revealed when they distributed military supplies not long ago.
Bai Chuan realized that he was just a pawn in their hands and wanted Zi Chuan Xiu to make him feel warmth. Zi Chuan Xiu, upon hearing Bai Chuan's complaints, felt embarrassed and Bai Chuan decided to follow Zi Chuan Xiu.
Ming Yue saw Bai Chuan and told Xiao Qi that he was their most esteemed guest, and there must be something important hidden on him. She ordered someone to bring Bai Chuan out. Taking advantage of Ming Yue's lowered guard, Zi Chuan Xiu seized the opportunity and caught Ming Yue in a compromising situation.
Zi Chuan Xiu threatened Ming Yue that she wanted to see her superior. Si Yi Lin suggested that Zi Chuan Xiu should console Zi Chuan Shen Xing, as Zi Chuan Shen Xing was worried that Yang Ming Hua would become desperate once he learned the truth.
Zi Chuan Xiu stated that he had prepared two plans and could have a shocking effect to force Yang Ming Hua's hand. Zi Chuan Shen Xing entrusted the Imperial Guards to Si Yi Lin. Zi Chuan Shen Xing mentioned that he would hand over the position to Zi Chuan Ning once she grew up and hoped that Zi Chuan Xiu would assist her.
Yang Ming Hua was determined to rebel, even if it meant risking his life. Ming Yue informed Zi Chuan Xiu that she would provide him with the news in three days. Ka Dan told Zi Chuan Ning that her mother had passed away a long time ago. Zi Chuan Ning felt sorry for bringing up Ka Dan's sorrow.
Ka Dan wanted to release a sky lantern but was stopped by Si Yi Lin. However, Si Yi Lin led Ka Dan to a safe place and allowed her to release the lantern. Ka Dan was deeply moved.
