I watched it because it was trending, and I was pleasantly surprised by the tight plot and exquisite costumes. From the main cast to the supporting roles, the acting was excellent. It's been a long time since I've seen a drama that tells a story seriously without relying on romantic subplots. The special effects were also impressive, without the excessive airbrushing and heavy filters that make male actors look unnaturally perfect. The last time I saw a drama like this was probably "The Legend of Chusen.

I watched it with a casual mindset, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the drama! It's been a while since I've seen a show without heavy filters, and I think it's refreshing. The plot is also quite engaging! Initially, I thought it would be a serious drama based on the quality, but there are actually many lighthearted and funny moments, especially with Di Lin. The contrast is so striking, yet it makes sense, haha. And Di Lin's lines are fantastic, and his voice is so charming~

Linghe's drama is definitely worth watching. The storyline and visual quality are both impressive! It's evident that they've invested a lot of effort into it. The habit of constantly judging actors based on their looks is truly astonishing. Disliking an actor is not a reason to engage in online harassment and cyberbullying in drama comments! People like that don't deserve to enjoy good dramas.
And why on earth is there a rule that a season cannot exceed 40 episodes? Shouldn't it be evaluated on a case-by-case basis? This rule is frustrating, especially for slightly longer dramas that can't be completed in one go.

Not much lovey-dovey stuff, they're all focused on their careers, which is great. There's just a hint of sweetness in between, and it's really relatable. Liu Yu Ning has such a strong presence, wherever he stands, I believe he can lead armies into battle. There's no excessive face smoothing with heavy filters, you can see all the facial details, it has a great texture, and I really like this drama. Liu Yu Ning should take on more male-centric roles, because men pursuing their careers are the most charming. Of course, you're also great at portraying a lover, so just keep acting. I love watching!

After watching the first 6 episodes, I have a general idea that this is a story about a young general who eventually becomes a king. It's been over a year since I last watched a drama with Xiaoyang. The last one I followed was "Strange Tales of the Tang Dynasty." I've been a fan for so many years, and if I like something, I really like it.
This time, Lu Lingfeng goes from the Tang Dynasty to Zichuan. I watched the trailer and the first 6 episodes. It's a story about power. Zichuan Xiu is good at disguising himself, pretending to be crazy and foolish, but everything is under his control.
After watching the interactions between Zichuan Xiu and Zichuan Ning in the first 6 episodes, I couldn't help but think that they wouldn't end up together. Zichuan Xiu's CP isn't Zichuan Ning, and it turns out to be true. Haha.

For those who haven't read the original work, the plot is acceptable. Although Tang Shen Wen's questioning of guilt feels a bit forced, the overall direction is there. Yang Xu Wen's performance is flawless, different from "Strange Tales Records." As for Ning Ge, there are both good and bad points. It's somewhat reminiscent of the character Liu Dao Tang from "Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain." It's better for him to first settle himself and his character. Did the lead actors offend the costume designer? The headgear looks odd, and the female lead as well. It would probably look better without the bangs. Many veteran actors have joined, and most of the supporting roles are played by familiar faces. Overall, it's a drama that can be enjoyed while having a meal.

What's the point of making these kinds of dramas every day? They're completely meaningless. Only those empty, lonely, and boring directors would be interested in filming such things. Nowadays, the novels of this era have no understanding of history, so the articles they write are just empty to read. I can summarize this type of drama in three words: grandiose but empty, false history, grand scenes, and hollow content.

The visuals are stunning, with a distinct flavor in every frame. It feels like a photography masterpiece. The veteran actors are also impressive, especially the actor who played the antagonist. They truly portrayed that sinister and villainous character. However, the plot is truly disappointing. The big moments always end up being dialogue-driven, and the never-ending, uninteresting back-and-forth between the male and female leads completely disrupts the pacing of the story. It's a pity because the story had a promising setup. I gave up watching after sixteen episodes.

I didn't finish reading the entire original novel of "Purple River." It's too long, and the author's execution is not very consistent. Sometimes, the story doesn't flow smoothly. I always feel that for a fictional historical story like this, the set and costume design could have been more daring, especially with the advanced filming techniques available now. The overall design of the drama leans towards a more classical style. The animation style leans towards a gaming aesthetic, and comparatively, the animated version comes out on top. The adaptation could have been better. This kind of series should be aired during the summer vacation. Our generation, influenced by "The Legend of Silver Fox" and "The Heroic Legend of Arslan," has a fondness for these kinds of alternate history novels. Later, people in domestic online forums started writing similar stories. In the past, I was quite obsessed with the "Nine States" series, but it ended up being incomplete. The "Nine States" series veered towards a focus on romantic relationships. When writing this kind of story, the author needs to make decisive choices. They shouldn't write a character as perfect and invincible just because they favor them, and everything shouldn't always turn out well. This kind of story shouldn't have a protagonist; it should be like the rise and fall of dynasties, with heroes appearing one after another as the rivers keep flowing and the waves wash away the heroes.

The production team made a wise decision to abandon the grand and magnificent Western-style scenes and language from the anime and instead chose traditional Chinese settings and etiquette. It would require a budget no less than the recent film adaptation of "Fengshen Yanyi" to recreate the same level of Western-style scenes without making it feel like another "Fengshen Yanyi" with the eye-popping fantasy elements of Fan Bingbing's version. That's not feasible for a TV drama.
The biggest highlights or the reasons why people are reluctant to give up on the show are: 1) the Chinese-style scenic design and matching costumes, 2) the well-executed filter lighting that captures the facial expressions just right, avoiding the pale and ghostly look, and 3) the performances of veteran actors like Yang Ming and Hua Ge Ying, which demonstrate the efforts of the production team. Although the young actors' performances are not outstanding or exceptional, they can be considered decent and not disappointing. The most frustrating aspect of this drama is the strange plot development, which has made me want to drop the show several times.

The three young protagonists couldn't hold a candle to any of the senior supporting actors. Yang Xu Wen's portrayal of Lu Lingfeng was completely lacking in depth, Liu Yu Ning's performance was somewhat formulaic, and Zhang Ming En's acting was rather forgettable. The plot was a mishmash of different elements. At times it felt like a Game of Thrones, and at others like Lord of the Rings... This kind of story might have worked better as an animated series; adapting it into a live-action version requires careful consideration. I dropped the show without giving it a rating.

I'm done... This is not the adaptation I wanted to see... What is this...?
I won't comment on the actors' appearances themselves (after all, we have Baoqiang there, and looking good isn't a prerequisite for acting). But the acting skills and screenplay... There's really nothing good to comment on. Lao Zhu, how desperate for money were you... to let such a work go online... or did you sell off the rights long ago...

What on earth is this? It starts off by throwing all the characters at you, leaving viewers confused and in a mess. Not everyone has watched the anime or knows the story, you know? The production quality is decent, and there are many talented actors, but the plot is utterly confusing. The names are also strange, neither Chinese nor foreign. And as for Zichuan, he still yearns for a peaceful life, such a waste.
