Episode 22 recap: Lin Zhen Dong and Hong Kuo went their separate ways.
In front of everyone, Lin Zhen Dong's mother announced that her son would join the Wanshi Racing Team. This news surprised Lin Zhen Dong, and he took his mother away, claiming they had urgent matters to discuss. However, Zhang Chi, who was present, seemed to think that this was expected.
Lin Zhen Dong asked his mother why she made the decision for him. His mother said that everything she did was to pave the way for him. She hoped to give him the best and wanted all the hardware facilities to be the best since he chose to become a racer. Hong Kuo also came out to persuade Lin Zhen Dong and mentioned that Wei Qian Li had something that the Feichi Racing Team couldn't provide.
At that moment, Wei Qian Li came happily with a contract and hoped to quickly sign it with Lin Zhen Dong for cooperation. Lin Zhen Dong asked about the incident where Zhang Chi's car was deliberately sabotaged, and Wei Qian Li claimed to know nothing about it. Lin Zhen Dong felt that everything was unfair to Zhang Chi, so he tore up the contract and left.
Hong Kuo chased after Lin Zhen Dong to persuade him, but now Lin Zhen Dong disapproved of some of his actions. Lin Zhen Dong knew he wanted to win, but not at the expense of betraying his teammates. Hong Kuo's actions had crossed his bottom line. Lin Zhen Dong felt that Hong Kuo didn't even consider things from his perspective, and he realized that Hong Kuo hadn't understood his thoughts for over a decade, unlike Zhang Chi. Hong Kuo felt a lot of helplessness inside. He was still working at the company, but just because of one sentence from Lin Zhen Dong, he was willing to give up everything he had to accompany him in realizing their so-called ideals. However, he had never considered his own feelings. Hong Kuo did everything to help Lin Zhen Dong become a better version of himself. Now Lin Zhen Dong understood Hong Kuo's intentions and apologized to him, but it was already impossible for them to become partners.
Lin Zhen Dong decided to go find Shen Xi Ting in the future. He was feeling very upset and didn't know if he had truly changed. Shen Xi Ting was by his side, constantly comforting him. Lin Zhen Dong realized that the path he had chosen now was indeed very difficult for him. Perhaps he was similar to his father in the past. Sometimes, Lin Zhen Dong didn't know whether his choices were right or wrong.
Lin Zhen Dong didn't know where to go now. After all, he couldn't go back to the racing team, and he didn't want to go home. He didn't have much money to stay in a hotel either. In the end, he had to rely on Li Ao Duo and Ai Fei for help. Li Ao Duo brought Lin Zhen Dong to his own home and let him stay there for free unconditionally. However, Lin Zhen Dong was asked to keep this matter confidential since the house was provided by the racing team, and they wouldn't take it lightly if they found out.
Lin Zhen Dong remembered what his mother had said to him. His mother didn't want him to become another Yu Taiang, so she wanted to provide him with the best conditions, which meant cooperating with the Wanshi Racing Team. Even though Lin Zhen Dong no longer had a racing team during this period, he continued to study and engage in activities related to racing. Besides his regular exercise routine, he would also conduct various research and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different driving styles.
On the other side, Zhang Chi continued his training diligently. Deep down, they still thought about each other. They used to be teammates, and now the sudden separation took some getting used to. Hong Kuo had joined the Wanshi Racing Team and wanted to invite Lin Zhen Dong to join as well. Lin Zhen Dong didn't see any problem with Hong Kuo's choice, and he would support him. However, he would not choose Wanshi for himself.
In that case, their next meeting might truly make them rivals. Yu Taiang also knew about the recent events happening around his son. Now that he no longer had the support of a racing team, it might be challenging for him to continue with the upcoming races. Yu Taiang also contemplated if he could help his son. In the evening, after Li Ao Duo finished training, he bought hotpot and gathered everyone at home. They discussed how to provide Lin Zhen Dong with practical training during this time. Li Ao Duo remembered that there were temporarily unused simulated racing tools in the warehouse. The three of them quietly went to the warehouse and took them out to start training. Unexpectedly, the highest record holder of this game turned out to be Yu Taiang.
In fact, Ai Fei also thought that maybe the three of them could form a team, so they wouldn't have to rely on anyone else's approval.
