Episode 12 recap: Yuan Ming Yu establishes a girls' school.

While Yuan Ming Yu is out in the countryside, she encounters a deranged woman who keeps muttering that her daughter is innocent. Yuan Ming Yu has the woman brought over and listens as she recounts the story of her daughter. It turns out that her daughter was married off to their family based on a matchmaker's recommendation, but her husband turned out to be a debauched gambler who would come back and demand money from her daughter whenever he ran out. If her daughter refused, he would subject her to beatings and abuse.

The daughter had confided in her mother multiple times, expressing her desire to leave her husband. However, the mother had advised her to stick with her husband no matter what. A few days ago, the husband mistreated the daughter once again, and in desperation, she grabbed a pair of scissors with the intention of scaring him. Unfortunately, the husband, intoxicated and irrational, got accidentally stabbed and died.

The daughter was arrested and subsequently learned that she had bitten her tongue and committed suicide. After hearing this story, Yuan Ming Yu harbors a deep hatred for the current laws in the country of Su Ye. She believes that the laws must be dismantled to prevent further harm and injustice against women. In order to educate more women and raise their awareness, Yuan Ming Yu decides to establish a girls' school, with Sun Xiang taking charge.

However, despite their efforts in promoting the school, they fail to attract any students. Yuan Ming Yu plans to stimulate enrollment by offering rewards, as well as having Sun Xiang release the exam questions in advance to lower the difficulty of admission. However, Sun Xiang refuses, stating that she won't engage in such dishonest practices. Ye Shao advises Yuan Ming Yu not to be hasty and mentions that she saw the Crown Prince near the school, suspecting that he may be obstructing their efforts. Ye Shao also warns Yuan Ming Yu to be cautious, as she suspects a connection between the death of the prince's consort and the Crown Prince himself.
