Episode 23 recap: Mingyu faced a difficult decision.

Mingyu declared herself emperor and announced laws for the liberation of women. From this day forward, there would be gender equality in education and career choices, with no discrimination based on gender. Everyone would have the freedom to pursue their own paths. Seeing Mingyu, confident and radiant, sitting on the throne, Ye Shao smiled sincerely, and Mingyu responded with a knowing smile. However, Qiyun, standing by their side, was troubled on behalf of Mingyu. Becoming emperor meant completing the mission and returning to the present day. Would Mingyu really be willing to part with Ye Shao?

Ye Shao accompanied Mingyu in the garden to relax. Mingyu asked Ye Shao what his own wish was that she could help fulfill since he had helped her become emperor. Ye Shao recounted the deep love between his father, the emperor, and his mother, the empress, who had once planted a red bean tree in the garden to symbolize their evergreen love.

Mingyu suggested that they fill the backyard with red bean trees. The two of them passionately kissed, but suddenly Mingyu coughed up blood. Third Princess came to see Qiyun and inquired about Mingyu's condition. Qiyun replied that the divine secrets must not be revealed. Qiyun asked the Third Princess if she had considered becoming emperor since Mingyu's time was running out. This way, she could protect the Emperor and the Crown Prince.

The Third Princess said that even if she had considered it, she wouldn't stand a chance. Qiyun lamented that she had been seeking something far away while neglecting what was close at hand. Qiyun went to find Mingyu and told her about two choices. One was to leap from the east gate in three days and return to the modern era. The other choice was to stay but only for ten more days, after which everything would disappear. The Crown Prince overheard Qiyun and Mingyu's conversation and hurriedly reported it to the Emperor, but the Emperor refused to believe him no matter what.
