Episode 10 recap: Li Mengjue and Xie Jingshu performed a play within a play.
Liu Chaoming felt that this matter had been prepared for five years, and if it could be completed today, it would be a kind of honor, a chance to wash away all shame. He released Lu Xier and said so. Late at night, Li Mengjue sneaked in to search for something new and was followed by Xie Jingshu. Xie Jingshu watched as Li Mengjue pointed a sword at him and guessed that he was an important minister in the palace, but Xie Jingshu did not admit his identity.
Li Mengjue believed that Xie Jingshu would not let him go for deceiving him. Xie Jingshu admitted that he was the Marquis of Dingbei. Li Mengjue did not pursue the matter of Xie Jingshu deceiving him. Xie Jingshu told his master that he had discovered news of the "Snow on a Branch in the Snow" and had been waiting for five years. He would not miss this opportunity and would capture the real culprit. Xie Jingshu listened to his master's advice to be patient and found it somewhat reasonable.
Xie Jingshu knew that his master suspected him of guessing the intentions of the emperor, but he felt no guilt. Xie Jingshu brought Li Mengjue to his home, and Li Mengjue told Xie Jingshu that he learned to kill from him. Xie Jingshu knew that Li Mengjue held a grudge. Li Mengjue and Xie Jingshu drank together, and Xie Jingshu pretended to be knocked unconscious by Li Mengjue. When Li Mengjue saw Xie Jingshu wake up, he knew that he had been deceived.
Li Mengjue asked Xie Jingshu if he truly believed that "Snow on a Branch in the Snow" would reappear in the world. Xie Jingshu believed that it was better to believe it than to not believe it. Li Mengjue was furious that his father took the blame for the actions of "Snow on a Branch in the Snow" and wanted Xie Jingshu to help him seek justice.
