Episode 11 recap: Liu Chaoming confessed his guilt and sacrificed his life to protect Liu Yu'an.
Li Mengjue told Xie Jingshu that he was willing to fulfill his filial duty and assist with any labor necessary. He hoped that Xie Jingshu could help him find the true culprit behind his father's wrongful death and clear his father's name. Xie Jingshu informed Li Mengjue that they shared a similar fate, and since Li Mengjue had also been married before, he would not refuse to help. Liu Chaoming voluntarily confessed his guilt in court and took on all the blame for his younger brother.
Liu Yu'an, outside, watched his older brother speak harshly and cruelly, never treating him as a true younger brother. Liu Yu'an simply couldn't believe that his brother had done all this to protect him. Jing Yan saw Liu Yu'an in such a dejected state and encouraged him to pull himself together and not disappoint their brother's expectations. Liu Chaoming pleaded with Jing Yan, saying that after he was gone, the Liu family would surely be destroyed, and he hoped Jing Yan could take care of Liu Yu'an in his absence, even if it meant sparing his younger brother's life.
Lu Xi'er asked Li Mengjue if he had informed Liu Yu'an about Liu Chaoming's situation. Li Mengjue felt that Liu Yu'an was currently consumed by pain and lacked the power to seek revenge. It wasn't the right time yet. Xie Jingshu also believed it was best not to tell Liu Yu'an, as the northern barbarians were extremely ruthless, and keeping Liu Yu'an unaware would be for his own good. Li Mengjue couldn't help but feel that Liu Chaoming's sacrifice was somewhat in vain, as he risked his life as a spy only to face execution now.
Xie Jingshu refused to believe that their master had simply died like that, so Lu Xi'er secretly hid the evidence of the Snow-on-a-Branch plant. Lu Xi'er informed them that it appeared the deceased had been hanged after dying naturally. Li Mengjue realized that the death of Xie Jingshu's master might be related to Bai Rui.
