Episode 21 recap: Li Mengjue and others are in prison, their fate uncertain.
Liu Yu'an is in a bad mood, sitting alone outside. Jing Yan brings him wine and asks Liu Yu'an where he would like to go and live freely if he could leave the capital. Liu Yu'an wants to return to the place where he lived in his childhood. Jing Yan tells Liu Yu'an that he will send him away tomorrow. Liu Yu'an thinks that Jing Yan wants to drive him away. Jing Yan explains to Liu Yu'an that he knows very well that it is not safe there, as Xie Jingshu and Li Mengjue have been arrested and the next round will be his turn. However, Liu Yu'an happily says that he wants to become brothers with Jing Yan.
Liu Yu'an and Jing Yan become sworn brothers in front of heaven and earth. Liu Yu'an knows that Jing Yan has taken care of him like a brother for a long time, and now he must do his best to protect Jing Yan. Shortly after the ceremony, Jing Yan is captured, and Liu Yu'an, alone, seeks revenge on the Second Prince and ends up in prison. The Second Prince tells Jing Yan that he is the heavens and locks up the severely injured Liu Yu'an with him.
Xie Jingshu and Li Mengjue drink poisoned wine and faint. Lu Xier knows that Li Mengjue is in trouble and wants to go and save him. The Second Prince orders his subordinates to be vigilant and get ready to take action.
