Episode 3 recap: Members of the Secret Order met late at night.

Xie Jingshu instructed Jingyan to keep an eye on the Liu Mansion and settle an account when the time comes. Jingyan was a bit confused and Xie Jingshu didn't offer any explanation. Luxi asked Li Mengjue how things were going, and Li Mengjue told her that Xie Jingshu was meticulous in his scrutiny and didn't miss any details. Helpless, Li Mengjue lied and claimed to have done some work at the Liu Mansion. Luxi wanted to assist Li Mengjue by secretly investigating the Liu Mansion.

Li Mengjue agreed to let Luxi investigate the matter alone and handle the rest himself. Luxi followed Jingyan and found him suspicious. Jingyan also noticed something strange about Luxi's behavior as she followed him. In a crowded place, Luxi tried to shake off Jingyan, but he found her. There was a moment of tension between them.

Jingyan, eager to play the hero, attempted to drive away the people chasing them from behind. However, he realized that the opponents were much stronger than him and he was no match for them. He was captured and brutally beaten. Li Mengjue heard some noise outside, got up, and discovered that Bai Rui had come to take his life. To Li Mengjue's surprise, Bai Rui confessed that she was after his money bag.

Xie Jingshu was troubled about how to launch a northern expedition and sought advice from his teacher. He was afraid of being wrongly accused like his grandfather and refused his master's suggestion to focus on Buddhism. Luxi was searching for the Hai Bo Map and discovered that her sister didn't want to give the map to the Secret Order. Li Mengjue realized what he was truly doing. He believed that everyone had their own destiny. Li Mengjue had previously mentioned that if the heavens were unfair, one should strive for a better future.

Li Mengjue found something suspicious about the money given by Bai Rui.
