Episode 16 recap: Unveiling the Past of Shixing.
Bai Cai was once again caught by Shixing, who interrogated him about the woman in his mind. Bai Cai ultimately entered Shixing's memory illusion and witnessed a scene from his past. Wu Geng followed Zi Yu to begin cultivating Qi and unexpectedly discovered that Qi cultivation didn't require much Protoss power.
At the same time, Shixing also noticed that Wu Geng had started cultivating Qi and urged him to use all his strength to kill him. Shixing was obsessed with finding out who the woman in his mind was, and in his madness, he pressured Bai Cai for answers, eventually causing Bai Cai to faint. Zi Yu informed his nephew that Shixing was a madman who had been capturing skilled individuals from all over the world and imprisoning them there. The war in Xing Nation made Shixing view Zi Yu as a rare expert, which is why he had been keeping Zi Yu imprisoned all this time.
With the nation destroyed and their family gone, Zi Yu felt that this place was no different from the outside world. Although Zi Yu could escape from this place, he believed it was no different from the outside. Wu Geng persuaded Zi Yu not to blame himself for the downfall of Xing Nation, as they had both given their all in the past. They had shown everyone that Protoss could be defeated and had given them hope.
Before her death, Wu Geng's mother, Heart's Moon Fox, entrusted him with finding his uncle, Zi Yu, because Zi Yu was their hope. Wu Geng assured Zi Yu that he would lead the human race to defeat the Protoss and free them from enslavement.
Wu Geng wanted to leave this place with Zi Yu, so they decided to join forces against Shixing. Zi Yu used Qi cultivation to open up Wu Geng's meridians. As long as Wu Geng could endure it, his body and Protoss power would greatly improve. After Bai Cai fell unconscious, she entered Shixing's memory world and witnessed the details of his interactions with a blind girl named Ming Yue.
Wu Geng displayed astonishing willpower and successfully had his meridians opened by Zi Yu. Zi Yu informed Wu Geng that he now had two types of Qi within him and that they needed to be fused together for any significant progress. However, if one's state of mind was unstable, the power resulting from the intertwining of Protoss power and Qi could invade the owner's consciousness and create inner demons.
Zi Yu told Wu Geng that both known Protoss power, Qi cultivation, and the soul power of the demon race had a backlash effect, and the key to cultivation was to cultivate one's heart.
A Lan successfully escaped from the tornado and arrived at the City of Kings, where she saw the gourd left behind by Wu Geng, confirming that he had successfully entered the city.
A Lan discovered that the entire city was sealed, and the residents had all turned into fiendish creatures called "Ba Yu." They were trapped indoors during the day and unable to move. Gui Mu came to the Protoss domain to meet the Elder Protoss Eye, but the Elder instructed him to wait. Zi Yu taught Wu Geng how to control the Qi within his body, and Wu Geng quickly understood and helped Zi Yu unlock the chains that bound his hands and feet.
Within a short day, Wu Geng became proficient in utilizing Qi. Zi Yu reminded Wu Geng that the imprisoned experts captured by Shixing were being held here and could be of assistance when necessary. A Lan arrived to assist Wu Geng, and together they released all the imprisoned experts. The decisive battle was approaching, and the imprisoned Ba Yu in the city also gathered. Shixing activated an ancient forbidden technique, and the residents of the city eagerly celebrated the Lord's wedding.
On the other side, the blind girl Ming Yue was also in her wedding attire, waiting in her room. Wu Geng and A Lan followed the residents to the Lord's Mansion, where Wu Geng encountered Bai Cai. Shixing and Ming Yue were about to hold the grand wedding ceremony when Xin Yue Kui arrived with Tian Kui. Xin Yue Kui criticized Shixing, the son of the Protoss King, for marrying a human. Humans could be played with but not genuinely loved. Xin Yue Kui sealed the City of Kings.
Xin Yue Kui told Shixing that this was the punishment given to him by the Elder Protoss Eye, the King's Seal. Those marked by the seal would neither live nor die, with no memories, becoming beasts driven solely by the urge to kill. And every time the seal was lifted, Shixing would relive the painful scenario of losing his loved one.
