Episode 27 recap: Wu GengBai Cai misunderstood.
Xin Yue Kui informed Bai Cai that the owner of the hairpin on her was Heart's Moon Fox, the queen of the Xin Kingdom, and that Ah Gou's true identity was Wu Geng, the prince of the Xin Kingdom. Bai Cai questioned Wu Geng if Ah Gou would never return again. Although Wu Geng was willing to tell Bai Cai everything, Bai Cai could not accept Wu Geng anymore.
Bai Cai thought about what Xin Yue Kui said, that the hairpin given to her by Ah Gou belonged to Xin Wang's queen, Heart's Moon Fox, while the person she knew as Ah Gou was actually Xin Wang's prince, Wu Geng. Bai Cai confronted Wu Geng privately to expose his true identity. Wu Geng explained that he was both Wu Geng and Ah Gou.
However, Bai Cai still believed that she had lost Ah Gou. She had been sensing it all along, but she had been unwilling to dwell on it and even deceived herself into thinking that Wu Geng was her Ah Gou. Bai Cai did not think that Wu Geng was Ah Gou. She believed that Wu Geng was a lofty prince, a hero who saved the enslaved miners and the people of the country of Kui. He carried the burden of national grudges and the well-being of the world. But Ah Gou was foolish and only knew how to rely on himself. Now she had lost Ah Gou, and Bai Cai's emotions were in turmoil. She didn't want to listen to Wu Geng's explanations and couldn't accept him.
Zhou Qiao asked Zi Yu if there was any way to prolong the life of his father, King Zhou Fa. Zi Yu believed that Zhou Fa had already lost his will to live and, before his death, advised Zhou Qiao to walk his own path. Zhou Qiao was deeply saddened by seeing his father die a tragic death. Wu Geng sensed Zhou Qiao's ulterior motives. He knew that Zhou Qiao didn't want Zhou Fa to die simply because he didn't want to take the throne temporarily. It was because Gui Mu was injured, and the retaliation of the Protoss was imminent. Zhou Qiao didn't want to bear the consequences of the Protoss' revenge.
Wu Geng stated that the King of Kui, like Xin Wang, was brave enough to resist the Protoss. He respected such a King of Kui. Whether it was resisting the Protoss or becoming a lackey of the Protoss, it was the choice of each individual. Wu Geng knew that the King of Kui wanted his son to follow the right path.
However, Zhou Qiao believed that the Human race had no way out. Wu Geng speculated that the Protoss already knew about the turmoil in the Kui Kingdom, but he couldn't understand why Xin Yue Kui hadn't made any moves yet. Wu Geng discussed family matters with his uncle, Zi Yu. Zi Yu believed that fate and separation were choices made by each individual, and if some people missed their chance, it would be for a lifetime.
Wu Geng also wanted to find an opportunity to explain things to Bai Cai, but now there were too many matters concerning the Kui Kingdom, and the immediate priority was to rescue the people.
An Jiang Jun brought Zhang Si Gong, who was skilled in shipbuilding, and they discussed how to create a warship that could resist the Protoss and had the capability to reach the sea ruins. Bai Cai discovered that she was being followed by A Lan. She told A Lan that Ah Gou was important to her, and in her memory, Prince Wu Geng was someone who bullied the weak and couldn't distinguish right from wrong. She couldn't accept that Ah Gou was actually Wu Geng. A Lan mentioned that in this world, many lies and concealments were done with good intentions and not meant to harm others.
However, Bai Cai believed that there were no lies between her and Ah Gou, and she always believed that honesty was the most important thing between people. Zhou Qiao released Gui Mu and took him to meet Xin Yue Kui. Zhou Qiao informed Xin Yue Kui that Prince Wu Geng of the Xin Kingdom had burned down the Eternal Prosperity and plotted against Gui Mu. He requested Xin Yue Kui and other powerful Protoss beings to descend to Earth and punish Wu Geng.
In order to further her own plans, Xin Yue Kui asked Zhou Qiao to cooperate with her and promised that after their success, she would allow Zhou Qiao to rule over Earth indefinitely. Zhou Qiao used Gui Mu to meet Xin Yue Kui, but instead of being grateful, he continued to imprison Gui Mu, planning to kill him once the anti-Protoss army arrived.
Wu Geng's identity was exposed in front of the common people. Seeing the current plight of the people, Wu Geng promised to take care of their lives. Zhā Zhā unexpectedly encountered Wu Geng in the Kui Kingdom and knelt before him, wanting to become his disciple. Faced with Zhā Zhā's persistent entreaties, Wu Geng was forced to take him as a disciple.
Bai Cai asked A Lan to help her buy flour, and while doing so, A Lan unexpectedly found Bai Cai's farewell letter in the money pouch she had given him. Bai Cai returned to the Demon Realm alone. Wu Geng learned from Zhā Zhā that Chen Jing was the leader of the Wan Qu tribe, and the Protoss planned to invade the Wan Qu tribe by repairing the Protoss Temple. Chen Jing failed, but due to his excellent alchemy skills, he was cursed to eternal life and trapped in a mine.
Wu Geng asked Zhā Zhā to return to the mine first, and he would come to seek Zhā Zhā's help after finishing his current tasks.
