Episode 28 recap: Xin Yue Kui instigates a conflict between Wu Geng and Bai Cai.
Bai Cai and Zhou Qiao join forces, and Wu Geng reaches an agreement with Zhou Qiao in the alliance. During Wu Geng's ceremony to pay respects to his parents, Bai Cai appears and injures Wu Geng. At the same time, Xin Yue Kui takes advantage of Wu Geng's injury and tries to kill him. She orders Bai Cai to personally kill Wu Geng as revenge for Ah Gou.
Bai Cai returns alone to the demon realm, and Xin Yue Kui suddenly appears before him. Xin Yue Kui continues to manipulate Bai Cai, intensifying his hatred for Wu Geng by using the death of Ah Gou. Eventually, Xin Yue Kui gains complete control over Bai Cai. Wu Geng returns to the orphan village and discovers that Bai Cai has already left. Then, Zhou Qiao appears and wants to take Wu Geng to the palace. Wu Geng agrees to pay respects to Xin Wang and the queen and to expose the Protoss' use of the Elixir of Eternal Prosperity to harm the people.
Zhou Qiao says that he will open the palace gates early the next morning, allowing the common people and Wu Geng to pay respects to Xin Wang. At that time, Wu Geng can reveal the truth about the Elixir of Eternal Prosperity to the people. Although Wu Geng suspects that Zhou Qiao has ulterior motives, he can only ask Zhou Qiao to help him find Bai Cai while he himself prepares for the ancestral ceremony in the palace.
Bai Cai is now completely under the control of Xin Yue Kui, lost in a haze of consciousness. Xin Yue Kui instructs Zhou Qiao to secretly give Bai Cai the juice of the Elixir of Eternal Prosperity, which weakens Bai Cai's mental fortitude and causes hallucinations. Bai Cai is brought to the Star-Picking Tower and learns that Ah Gou died there, killed by the Heart's Moon Fox.
To further manipulate Bai Cai, Xin Yue Kui fabricates a scene where the Heart's Moon Fox kills Ah Gou and Wu Geng's Protoss power is injected into Ah Gou. Bai Cai witnesses Ah Gou's death firsthand and harbors intense hatred towards Wu Geng. He is even tempted by Xin Yue Kui to kill Wu Geng for revenge on Ah Gou.
A Lan discovers Bai Cai's intentions and witnesses her being influenced to kill Wu Geng. In consideration of Wu Geng and the greater cause, A Lan decides to intervene and kill Bai Cai. Despite initially doubting the prophecy, she eventually comes to believe in Fu Xi's prediction. Wu Geng is unaware of his own actions. A Lan asks Bai Cai to take the blame for everything and not to blame Wu Geng. She attempts to kill Bai Cai directly but is unexpectedly captured by Zhou Qiao.
Bai Cai stops Zhou Qiao from harming A Lan and agrees to the plan for the next day.
Zhou Qiao, under the orders of Xin Yue Kui, sends Zi Yu away ahead of time and imprisons A Lan in a cell to prevent her from being used as leverage against Wu Geng in case of any unexpected incidents the next day.
The following day, Wu Geng pays respects to his parents in the palace. He publicly exempts the people from kneeling and expresses that although he stands alone, he is not afraid of power. He believes his father and mother are worthy of heaven and earth, as well as the lives of the people. He hopes that the people will remember that it was the people who came first, then the Protoss, and that the heavens followed after the multitude. Later, while Wu Geng is at the altar, he sees Bai Cai and asks her to accompany him in paying respects to his parents. However, Bai Cai publicly questions Wu Geng about how her Ah Gou died and attempts to stab Wu Geng with a dagger to avenge Ah Gou.
Wu Geng realizes that he has fallen into Zhou Qiao's trap. He instructs An Jiang Jun and others to protect the people and witnesses Xin Yue Kui and Bai Cai joining forces to try to kill him. Wu Geng feels sorrow in his heart. Xin Yue Kui destroys the altar, and Tai Ji and others appear to assist Xin Yue Kui.
Due to being wounded by a specially crafted dagger, Wu Geng's Protoss power is suppressed, and he is unable to use the power of the Colorless Realm Protoss. Xin Yue Kui orders Bai Cai to kill Wu Geng. Bai Cai questions Wu Geng about whether he is truly Wu Geng or Ah Gou. Wu Geng declares that regardless of who he is, he will protect Bai Cai for a lifetime.
At the last moment, Bai Cai chooses to trust Wu Geng, and the two of them join forces to gain control over Xin Yue Kui and the six major Protoss factions. It turns out that Wu Geng had long planned to lure Xin Yue Kui and the six major Protoss factions into a trap as part of the "Against the Heavens" plan. He also knew Xin Yue Kui's intentions in approaching Bai Cai. He had already revealed his true identity to Bai Cai and instructed her to pretend to be influenced by Xin Yue Kui, thereby turning the tables on Xin Yue Kui and the six major Protoss factions.
