Episode 8 recap: Zhou Qiao suspected that Ah Gou was Wu Geng.
Gui Mu and Zhou Qiao arrived at the Beishan Mine. At a glance, Zhou Qiao recognized that Ah Gou was the person who burned Xin Wang's body four years ago. Zhou Qiao suspected that Ah Gou was Wu Geng, but Chen Jing quickly denied it, and Wu Geng hastily confessed, saying that he only wanted to make money from the dead.
Under Chen Jing's persuasion and Gui Mu's indifference, Zhou Qiao could only temporarily give up killing Wu Geng. Zhou Qiao volunteered to investigate the cannibalistic monster incident but was mocked and covered in dirt by the monster. Zhou Qiao noticed that Ah Gou, introduced by Chen Jing, looked too familiar and remembered that Ah Gou had burned Xin Wang's body with the remnants of Xin Guo. He was willing to stay in the mine for the rest of his life to mine ore for the Protoss as a way to atone. Under Chen Jing's persuasion, Zhou Qiao finally agreed to let Ah Gou go.
Wu Geng told everyone that a cannibalistic monster had appeared in the mine a month ago, and now everyone in the mine was terrified and dared not travel alone. Zhou Qiao said he would learn Qi cultivation techniques in the mine and volunteered to stay to investigate the cannibalistic monster. Chen Jing assigned Wu Geng to assist Zhou Qiao in the investigation.

It turned out that the "cannibalistic monster" was Wu Geng in disguise, seeking revenge on Zhou Qiao for the trouble he caused today. It turns out that during this time, Wu Geng pretended to be the cannibalistic monster to gradually send the slaves from the mine out of the Beishan Mine, and they had already successfully sent out more than a hundred people.
Now that the Protoss had arrived, Wu Geng knew that he couldn't continue the deception, to avoid prolonging the nightmare. Wu Geng had Bai Cai, Xiao Shang, and Shi Tou leave overnight, while he stayed behind to disrupt the mine, so that the Protoss would be too preoccupied to pay attention to everyone's disappearance. To deceive Chen Jing, Wu Geng had Bai Cai stab him, and he appeared in front of Chen Jing, claiming to have encountered the cannibalistic monster and urging Chen Jing to close the mine, otherwise, the mine would never have peace.
Chen Jing thought about the frequent appearance of the cannibalistic monster today and speculated that there was a connection between the monster and Gui Mu.
Chen Jing was pestered by Chacha to go and catch the cannibalistic monster. From Chacha's words, Wu Geng learned that Zhou Qiao had come to the Beishan Mine to learn Qi cultivation. Chen Jing was worried that Gui Mu would harm Bao Beier and urged Chacha to stay away from Gui Mu.

Wu Geng disguised himself as the cannibalistic monster and captured Chacha, who was going to hunt in the mountains. Chen Jing was extremely anxious upon learning about it. Wu Geng knew that Chen Jing couldn't leave Beishan due to the Protoss' forbidden technique, so he kidnapped Chacha outside of Beishan. Taking this opportunity, Wu Geng taught Chacha a lesson and made him promise to treat the slaves well in the future.
To find Chacha, Chen Jing closed off the mine and searched for him. Zhou Qiao took advantage of the mine's closure and had Bai Cai taken away. Zhou Qiao initially wanted to interrogate Bai Cai and confirm whether Ah Gou was Wu Geng, but Bai Cai explained that Ah Gou was an orphan and they had been together since childhood.
Zhou Qiao also told Bai Cai that Wu Geng was Xin Wang's son, but Bai Cai only explained that Ah Gou burned Xin Wang's body for the sake of money. Failing to get the desired truth from Bai Cai, Zhou Qiao knocked her unconscious and had her sent to a secret room to be consumed by Gui Mu.
Wu Geng informed the slaves who were sealed in the mine that he had been the one portraying the cannibalistic monster all this time. He successfully released many slaves using this method and then led Xiao Shang, Shi Tou, and others to bring the slaves to the underground tunnels. Bai Cai regained consciousness in front of Gui Mu, and Gui Mu saw that she wasn't afraid of him, praising her courage.
Wu Geng led the slaves out of the mine and urged them to leave as soon as possible. Adé informed Wu Geng that Bai Cai had been taken away by the prince of Xin Guo. Upon hearing this, Wu Geng hurriedly returned to the mine. Gui Mu initially intended to kill Bai Cai but unexpectedly discovered the cold poison on her. He questioned Bai Cai about the spell on her body. In a critical moment, Wu Geng arrived to rescue Bai Cai, led by the little spirit bird. He broke in and successfully found Bai Cai.
Upon seeing Wu Geng, Bai Cai cursed Gui Mu as a despicable creature worse than pigs and dogs. As a member of the Protoss, he had turned into a crazed cannibal. Wu Geng initially wanted Bai Cai to find an opportunity to leave, but Bai Cai decided to stay and stand with Wu Geng.
