Episode 9 recap: Li Tian Shun frightened the deputy commander with the help of foreigners.

The deputy commander told Master Pu San to carefully consider the matter, as it was of great importance, and he would return in three days. After the deputy commander and his men left, Master Pu San reminded Li Tian Shun that if he was arrested in three days, no one was allowed to ransom him with money. If anyone dared to ransom him, he would be angry with them. The deputy commander returned to the yamen and angrily told Wang Tong Ren that he had intended to extort some money from Li Tian Shun, but unexpectedly encountered an unexpected obstacle. Wang Tong Ren told him to just arrest Master Pu San and he would see that Li Tian Shun would take the money.

After three days, the deputy commander arrived at Master Pu San's house. When the coachman saw the deputy commander disrespecting Master Pu San, he whipped him once, and Mr. Xie, seeing that the coachman was skilled, didn't dare to continue acting presumptuously. Master Pu San was taken to the yamen, and the commander-in-chief asked him to reveal the whereabouts of the thief, stating that it had nothing to do with him. Master Pu San was furious and cursed at them, saying that catching the thief was their job, and yet they had the audacity to come and ask him.

Seeing that Master Pu San was difficult to handle, the commander-in-chief changed his approach and asked him to bring out the person who delivered the jade bi. Master Pu San told them that the person who delivered the jade bi was the coachman, and if they were willing to go and get him, they could do so as they pleased. The deputy commander wanted to go and arrest the coachman, but the governor asked him if he was stupid and if he hadn't had enough of the whip. The commander-in-chief knew that Master Pu San had already realized that they wanted to extort money and that they had no evidence, so they couldn't do anything to him.

The deputy commander suggested taking Master Pu San to the governor's yamen, but the commander-in-chief, Li, was worried that Rong, the supervisor of the Jiumen Governor, had a good relationship with Master Pu San. Instead of punishing him, Rong would give them a deadline to solve the case, which would only cause trouble for themselves. After much consideration, the commander-in-chief felt that it was best to release him. The deputy commander's plan backfired, and at Master Pu San's request, he even gave him the fake jade bi.

After Master Pu San left, the deputy commander felt very angry, and Wang Tong Ren suggested that he take it out on Li Tian Shun. The deputy commander and his men went to Juhe Zhai and claimed that someone had reported Li Tian Shun for rescuing Big Sword Wang Wu, and that they wanted to arrest him and interrogate him at the yamen. However, upon seeing Master Pu San present, they did not arrest him on the spot.

Li Yun Mian blamed his son, saying that if he hadn't carved that jade bi, none of these things would have happened.

To deal with the current situation, he came up with an idea for his son. The court was currently afraid of foreigners, so they could use foreigners to fend off the disaster. Li Tian Shun thought it was a good idea. The deputy commander led his men to arrest Li Tian Shun but was surprised to see a foreigner present, who happened to be a noble from the British royal family.

Upon learning that the foreigner wanted to apprentice under Li Tian Shun, the deputy commander didn't dare to make the arrest. When Wang Tong Ren saw the deputy commander return empty-handed, he didn't ask what happened but listened to the deputy commander's reason for not arresting Li Tian Shun. Wang Tong Ren reminded the deputy commander that he had been tricked by Li Tian Shun. How could a member of the British royal family learn craftsmanship from him?

The deputy commander felt that Wang Tong Ren made sense. He turned back with his men and found Henry absent. He smiled and asked Li Tian Shun where the foreigner had gone, suspecting that he was being deceived. Li Tian Shun lied and claimed that Henry had gone to Tianjin. The deputy commander, now more cunning, gave Li Tian Shun a ten-day deadline. If Henry didn't return, he would arrest Li Tian Shun.

Li Tian Shun asked Bai Shi De, who understood English, to bring Henry back. However, Bai Shi De informed him that Henry had already returned to his country. The ten-day deadline passed, and the deputy commander returned with his men to Juhe Zhai, ready to order the arrest of Li Tian Shun. Suddenly, Bai Shi De entered with a foreign woman. The two of them spoke English for a while, leaving everyone wide-eyed. Li Tian Shun asked Bai Shi De what the woman was saying, and Bai Shi De told him that the woman said Henry was missing. If they couldn't find Henry, she would report the matter to the British Consulate.

Li Tian Shun pointed at the deputy commander and told the foreign woman that Mr. Tong was also looking for Henry. He believed that they would find Henry soon, and asked her not to report to the British Consulate. The deputy commander anxiously told Li Tian Shun to stop making things up, claiming that Henry's situation had nothing to do with him, and then left with his men.

After returning to the yamen, the deputy commander reported the incident to the commander-in-chief, who praised him for his actions. To make the act more realistic, Li Tian Shun and Bai Shi De had themselves tied up and voluntarily turned themselves in at the yamen. The deputy commander asked them what they were confessing to, and Li Tian Shun said that Wang Wu had visited his house before. Bai Shi De mentioned that he had supported Wang Wu's three eldest sons. The commander-in-chief, being generous, told them that since they had recognized their mistakes, they would not be held accountable. Seeing that the two insisted on going to jail, the commander-in-chief didn't want to provoke the foreigners and had them kicked out.
