Episode 2 recap: Zhuang Xiaoman asked Lin Xian to cooperate with her in acting.
When the patriarch of the Lin family learned that Lin Xian had gone to the police station to withdraw the marriage proposal and caused a scene, he became furious and stripped Lin Xian of his position as general manager. He ordered him to stay in Dadong Village for repentance. The assistant quickly took down Lin Xian's luggage, making him realize that the patriarch had conspired with the assistant in advance. However, Lin Xian couldn't resist the patriarch's decision and obediently stayed with his suitcase. While walking on the village path, Zhuang Xiaoman and her parents encountered Lin Xian and learned that he intended to stay. They asked him where he planned to live, and upon finding out that Lin Xian wanted to stay at a hotel, they directed him to the road leading to the town.
Zhuang's father only mentioned the road that leads to the town without mentioning that it was fifty kilometers away. Lin Xian couldn't walk that far and ended up returning to Zhuang's house late at night. Concerned, Zhuang's mother asked if Lin Xian was hungry. Lin Xian stubbornly claimed he wasn't, but his growling stomach betrayed him. Zhuang's father was displeased with Lin Xian's decision to withdraw the marriage proposal. Although he allowed Lin Xian to stay that night, he arranged for him to sleep in the room of his deceased father, which hadn't been cleaned for a long time and was covered in spiderwebs and dust.
Zhuang Xiaoman took the initiative to help clean the room. After her father left, she deliberately shook the heavily dusted bedsheets, causing a cloud of dust that almost blinded them. Lin Xian realized that Zhuang Xiaoman was making no effort to make him feel comfortable. In the end, he found that the cleanest option was his own suitcase and sat on it to make do for the night. The next day, Tian Guifeng and Wang Mazi came to argue with them. Zhuang Xiaoman knew that her mother had heard a lot of gossip because of her actions. In order to make her mother regain her dignity, she made a condition: Lin Xian had to pretend to be her partner.
