Episode 14 recap: Secretary Chen apologized to Ye Ran.
Ye Ran had a dream in which the female protagonist in his story encountered the antagonist. The female protagonist expressed that she couldn't be with the antagonist because that's how her character was designed. The antagonist argued that even as an antagonist, he is still a person and has his own emotions. He questioned why they couldn't be together and proceeded to kiss the female protagonist. The next day, Ye Ran woke up and didn't remember anything from the previous day, so he didn't think anything was amiss and couldn't understand why he had such a dream.
Su Chi asked Ye Ran about his relationship with Meng Zhao, mentioning that Meng Zhao was the one who brought Ye Ran back last night. Ye Ran clarified that he and Meng Zhao didn't have any special relationship, just a leader and subordinate dynamic. Ye Ran went to the company where Secretary Chen apologized to him. Ye Ran didn't blame Secretary Chen, as he understood that one can't force oneself to like someone. Secretary Chen acknowledged that he shouldn't have agreed without fully understanding the situation, and it must have made Ye Ran upset. However, Ye Ran mentioned that he wasn't actually that upset. Secretary Chen handed an umbrella to Ye Ran, explaining that it wasn't her own umbrella but rather the boss had asked her to give it to Ye Ran. She also mentioned the incident with the previous poster, where Meng Zhao voluntarily extended the deadline for Ye Ran by two days. Secretary Chen described Meng Zhao as someone who helps others without seeking recognition. Ye Ran provided Secretary Chen with Meng Zhao's contact information.
