Episode 3 recap: An Zhi Que's new house is unfinished, and Old An is anxious and upset, so he ends up in the hospital.
An Zhi Que receives a package and opens it to find a new cellphone inside. She is happy because she knows it's from Lin Tuo. She takes a photo of it and sends it to him. Previously, she had mentioned that her old phone was always having issues, and Lin Tuo remembered. Lin Tuo and An Zhi Que go to separate job interviews and meet afterwards. They talk about embarrassing moments during their interviews. An Zhi Que's current thought is simple: to save enough money for renovation as quickly as possible and then have Lin Tuo do the renovation for her.
According to An Zhi Que's idea, Lin Tuo draws a design plan, and An Zhi Que is extremely happy after seeing it. At that moment, Lin Tuo really wants to give An Zhi Que the best he can offer, but unfortunately, he couldn't give her a happy home in the end.
He Xin Di comes to An Zhi Que's house with a sad face and tells her and Old An that she just went through a break-up. An Zhi Que and Old An have no complaints and take her in. Graduation is approaching, and Chen Guang Pu feels annoyed seeing everyone busy. Upon learning that Lin Tuo is going on a date after playing basketball, Chen Guang Pu expresses jealousy, saying, "Is it still interesting to go on dates when you're an old married couple?"
Tomorrow is graduation day, and An Zhi Que and Lin Tuo have their final campus date. They embrace each other affectionately and share a sweet kiss. Lin Tuo's dormitory mates invite An Zhi Que and He Xin Di to a party, and the young people enjoy themselves all night.
They don't return home until it's almost dawn. Early in the morning, An Zhi Que receives a phone call informing her that the property she bought is unfinished. An Zhi Que is now left with no money and no house. Lin Tuo accompanies her to the sales office, which is already crowded with owners facing the same situation. An Zhi Que expresses her immense pain, saying she has lost her money and her house, and she doesn't know how to tell her father.
Lin Tuo comforts her, urging her not to worry. He takes out a phone number from the developer and says he will handle the matter. An Zhi Que and He Xin Di wander aimlessly, asking around for information, while Lin Tuo diligently prepares documents. Lin Tuo takes An Zhi Que to meet the developer, who explains that the problem is not on their end but rather the construction company absconding with the funds.
Lin Tuo argues that they signed the contract with the developer and have no relationship with the construction company.
Lin Tuo argues logically, meticulously dismantling the opposing party's arguments. The person in charge becomes speechless and starts to soften their attitude. An Zhi Que is in complete awe of Lin Tuo's skills. Chen Guang Pu jokingly says that he has been practicing arguing for several days.
Lin Tuo says they won't easily give in and will proceed with legal procedures. Just as this is happening, An Zhi Que receives a phone call informing her that her father, Old An, has been hospitalized. It turns out that he became overwhelmed and fainted upon hearing about the issue with the house. His colleagues hurriedly took him to the hospital. An Zhi Que and Lin Tuo visit the hospital to see her father. The first thing Old An asks about upon waking up is the situation with the house. An Zhi Que and Lin Tuo reassure him that the matter will be properly resolved.
He Xin Di and Chen Guang Pu also bring flowers and fruits to visit Old An. They playfully liven up the atmosphere. Old An realizes that they are in love, but Chen Guang Pu denies it. He Xin Di becomes angry upon hearing Chen Guang Pu's denial. Lin Tuo sends a message to his mother, informing her that his work arrangements are almost settled and expressing his desire to rent a house there. He asks his mother to send some money.
Old An needs to undergo surgery, but he adamantly refuses because he knows there is no money at home. An Zhi Que scolds her father sternly while worrying silently herself. She calls He Xin Di to borrow money, but Lin Tuo arrives and hangs up the phone. An Zhi Que doesn't want to trouble Lin Tuo further, but Lin Tuo pays the surgery fees using the rent money sent by his mother.
Chen Guang Pu helps Lin Tuo move and worries about his own situation. He wonders what will happen when his mother finds out that he used the rent money to pay for Old An's surgery. Lin Tuo suggests that he could move in with Chen Guang Pu, which makes Chen Guang Pu realize the intention behind Lin Tuo's actions. He feels sorry for Lin Tuo, thinking that his mother favors his younger brother, who has no conscience and is always fooling around with his girlfriend.
In the end, Chen Guang Pu comes up with an idea. He tells his mother that he and Lin Tuo will share an apartment, with Lin Tuo living in his place and Chen Guang Pu taking care of the cooking and cleaning. Lin Tuo agrees wholeheartedly. Meanwhile, Old An is undergoing surgery, and Lin Tuo receives a call from his younger brother Xiao Ye, who says he has arrived in Chongqing.
