Episode 4 recap: Lin Ye, under great pressure, ran away from home when his attempts to persuade his parents were unsuccessful.
Facing the intensified pressure of the college entrance examination, Lin Ye's parents continued to impose strict demands on him, insisting that he must study medicine. Every day, his mother would force-feed him various things, which greatly annoyed Lin Ye. In a recent exam, Lin Ye's grades dropped, leading to his father's furious outburst. In a fit of anger, Lin Ye ran away to Chongqing to find his brother, Lin Tuo, and they both moved into Chen Guang Pu's house.
The two brothers had a heated argument about Lin Ye's future career choice. Lin Ye didn't want to study medicine; he only wanted to attend a music college and become a music producer. Lin Tuo advised him not to quarrel with their parents, suggesting that he should discuss any issues with them. But now, Lin Ye had learned to run away from home. He didn't want to be like his brother, obediently following their parents' instructions. He was determined to apply to a music college because he believed he should have dreams. Since his parents didn't understand him, he didn't see the need to explain himself to them. If Lin Tuo also opposed him, then he would go stay in a hotel and support himself by working. With that, he waved his hand and left.
Angry, Lin Tuo shouted after his departing figure, sarcastically remarking how remarkable it was to have dreams. Without the conditions provided by their parents, how could he live worry-free? Chen Guang Pu watched their argument, thinking that they were very much alike in not listening to their parents. Lin Ye left the art college and saw An Zhi Que waiting for him at the entrance, looking at photos on her phone.
Lin Ye and An Zhi Que argued, and without mincing words, she scolded him. An Zhi Que took Lin Ye to a dumpling stall and handed him an apron, instructing him to help with the work. Lin Ye was taken aback, wondering how his brother ended up with a girlfriend who sold dumplings. An Zhi Que taught Lin Ye about manners and to work diligently.
Frustrated, Lin Ye began chopping the dumpling filling. When Lin Tuo arrived, he objected loudly to his brother's relationship with An Zhi Que, only to be scolded by both of them simultaneously. An Zhi Que warned Lin Ye that she didn't have Lin Tuo's patience and that she had ways to deal with him. Lin Ye obediently followed An Zhi Que to the library. At first, he wore his headphones and listened to music, but seeing everyone around him studying quietly, he was influenced and conscientiously took out his exam papers to start working on them.
An Zhi Que noticed this and deliberately recorded a video to send to Lin Tuo.
Lin Tuo sent the video to their mother and told her that he would bring his younger brother back home over the weekend. Their mother finally felt relieved and asked what they would like to eat so she could prepare it for them. Lin Tuo helped An Zhi Que with the asset preservation application, gathering all the necessary documents for a successful submission. With Lin Tuo by her side, An Zhi Que felt less anxious.
Lin Tuo brought food to Lao An, who was touched to learn that Lin Tuo had paid for his medical expenses. Lin Tuo told him not to feel indebted and promised to take him out for a nice meal. Lao An was happy to hear that and asked if Lin Tuo's parents knew about his relationship with An Zhi Que. He wondered if it was time for him to go back and meet Lin Tuo's parents.
Lin Tuo brought Lin Ye back home, specifically choosing a small truck because he had made a rocking chair for their grandfather as part of his graduation project and wanted to give it to him as a keepsake. To save money, the two brothers traveled home together in the small truck. When they arrived and saw their grandfather, Lin Tuo gave him the electric heart An Zhi Que had prepared. Their grandfather was delighted to learn that Lin Tuo had a girlfriend.
Back at home, their parents were different, especially their father. He harshly scolded Lin Ye upon seeing him, and when Lin Tuo tried to speak up for his younger brother, their father didn't even let him get a word in. Lin Ye couldn't control his outburst and angrily confronted their father, but instead of indulging him, their father blamed their mother and Lin Tuo.
Lin Tuo tried to talk to their mother to ease Lin Ye's pressure, but she believed that as an older brother, he hadn't set a good example for his younger brother. If he had been accepted into medical school, he would already have a job at their hospital and wouldn't be in the current situation, relying on their parents for rent. Lin Tuo went to bid farewell to their grandfather, who handed him a bank card, leaving Lin Tuo deeply moved.
Lin Ye didn't want to see Lin Tuo and stayed away from him. The reason he was frustrated with his brother was that Lin Tuo could live according to his own thoughts while he had to live according to their parents' expectations. Back in Chongqing, An Zhi Que asked if his father scolded him, and Lin Tuo casually said no. When they learned that the court ruled in favor of An Zhi Que regarding the house payment, Lin Tuo was overjoyed.
