Episode 3 recap: The conservative father-in-law is frustrating.
Zhu Da Li disagrees with his son selling the house. If the house is to be sold, the son must repay the down payment to him. Faced with the father's lofty paternal authority, Zhu Jing Cao couldn't help but retort, blaming his father for not agreeing to pool their resources to buy a bigger house back then. Now that housing prices have risen, his father wants him to come up with the down payment.
Not only that, Zhu Da Li also demands that his son hand over the property deed to Zhang Shan Ya for safekeeping. Zhu Jing Cao was so angry that he slammed the door and stormed out. Gu Mo Li knew that her husband had signed that commitment letter and felt wronged. Now she was being suppressed by Zhu Da Li, and her mood was certainly not good. She chased after him and tore up the commitment letter in front of Zhu Jing Cao, declaring that neither of them wanted money from their respective parents and that they would rely on their own efforts to save money and buy a big house.
Zhu Jing Cao was very grateful for his wife's thoughtfulness. He promised Gu Mo Li that within two years, at most three years, they would work hard to move into a bigger house, and then they could do whatever they wanted. Early in the morning, Zhang Shan Ya was busy making breakfast, which woke Gu Mo Li up and made her very unhappy.

Zhu Da Li disagreed and insisted that Gu Mo Li cook the food, regardless of how late she would come home from work. The painting restored by Kang Yun was completely different from its original style, but Gu Mo Li had no choice but to accept it. Zhu Jing Cao originally planned to leave work early and go home to help Gu Mo Li, but unexpectedly, the company's servers crashed, and the team had to stay and work overtime. Gu Mo Li had to go and pick up the groceries by herself. Zhu Jing Cao also asked the art teacher to extend the class hours and asked Wang Ling Xiao and Huang Qian Niu to help stall their parents and Coco, trying to buy as much time as possible for Gu Mo Li.
Huang Qian Niu and Wang Ling Xiao were not good at acting. The person who arrived first accidentally revealed the plan, and Zhu Da Li quickly realized that they were buying time. He went back to the building and happened to see Zhu Jing Cao and Gu Mo Li squatting on the ground unpacking the takeout boxes. Zhu Da Li's face turned pale, and he angrily called it disgraceful.
When they returned home, Zhu Da Li made everyone go hungry and only allowed Zhang Shan Ya to find something for Coco to eat. Then he began to read aloud the family rules he had written, with the other four adults listening. Even when he's proven wrong, Zhu Da Li still wanted witnesses. Zhu Jing Cao understood why Zhu Da Li was doing this.
After Huang Qian Niu and Wang Ling Xiao left, Gu Mo Li couldn't help but say that Zhu Da Li was feudal. Zhu Da Li, with his conservative mindset, only saw his daughter-in-law as unruly. The next day, Gu Mo Li made an excuse of a business trip and went to stay at Shen Liu Liu's house.
Early in the morning, Zhu Da Li found fault again, saying that Gu Mo Li never went on business trips early or late, but conveniently went on one when he came, implying that she was trying to avoid him. Zhu Jing Cao didn't think much of it. Their job nature was like that, and he could also be called for a business trip at any time. Zhu Da Li thought that he had made a rare trip to Shanghai and that his son should take leave to accompany him. However, Zhu Jing Cao didn't pay attention to his words and certainly wouldn't waste time writing any so-called family rules. He slammed the door and went to work.
