Episode 4 recap: Yang Cai Wei got Pan Yue drunk.
Early in the morning, Shang Guan Lan returned to the capital city, leaving a large sum of money for Yang Cai Wei, as well as a maid hired overnight. However, these favors made Yang Cai Wei feel guilty, and she wondered how she would explain the truth to Shang Guan Lan in the future. Shang Guan Lan moved out of the house and went to the county yamen, telling Pan Yue that she would be sleeping on the streets. Pan Yue agreed, but secretly intended to force her to leave. When the woman spoke out again, Yang Cai Wei recited the laws and regulations and had Sun Wancai take the punishment on behalf of his wife. Someone nearby reminded Pan Yue that this woman was from one of the four major families, but Pan Yue still had her arrested.
This act earned praise from the people.
After Pan Yue arrived in Heyang, many people gave him gifts, and he subsequently hosted a banquet for many friends. Yang Cai Wei was eager to investigate Pan Yue's crimes and went to the archive to search for the file on Shang Guan Zhi's death.
