Episode 7 recap: The mastermind behind the scenes intends to use someone else as a scapegoat for murder.
Two months ago, after Yang Cai Wei's death, Pan Yue, with white hair overnight, returned to the Pan Mansion to interrogate his father about what he really knew! Ten years ago, Yang's father was still an official, and Pan's father was his assistant. One day, Yang's father received a whistleblower letter, exposing a hidden rebellious force within the court, with clues pointing directly to Heyang.
So Yang's father went to Heyang to secretly investigate, but upon returning to the capital, he was falsely accused and exiled. After Pan's father took over as an official, he pretended not to know anything about this matter and never allowed Pan Yue to search for Yang Cai Wei. In the end, if it weren't for Pan Yue finding Yang Cai Wei, she wouldn't have died. It was he who caused the death of Yang Cai Wei, and Pan Yue was extremely grief-stricken.
Upon learning that Pan Yue had gone to the Life and Death Pavilion, the mastermind behind all this decided to use someone else as a scapegoat and have Pan Yue die in Heyang. Pan Yue went alone to the Life and Death Pavilion but discovered that Yang Cai Wei was already there. Pan Yue urged her to return as soon as possible because he wouldn't be able to protect her if something happened.
However, Yang Cai Wei insisted on staying with Pan Yue. Pan Yue and Yang Cai Wei took a man and a woman hostage, exchanged clothes with them, and disguised themselves to prepare for entry into the inner area. Yang Cai Wei presented Lady Chen's name card, and the two of them successfully entered and saw the place where chips could be exchanged.
Yang Cai Wei impersonated Lady Chen, while Pan Yue impersonated a young man by her side. The two of them entered a private room, and soon someone began to beat the drums and gongs. Six beautiful women entered the stage, and this competition was to see who would win in a fight against a wolf. Yang Cai Wei clenched her teeth and cursed, while below the stage, a wicked wolf was already released.
For some reason, Yang Cai Wei felt a burning sensation throughout her body and became as excited and agitated as the other people here. Pan Yue noticed her abnormality and quickly reminded her of their purpose for being here. Yang Cai Wei took half a chip and went to exchange it, and Pan Yue mingled with the crowd, following her lead.
To achieve their goal and avoid complications, Pan Yue immediately pulled Yang Cai Wei away from there. However, Yang Cai Wei started having hallucinations, as if she was seeing many butterflies, and she even said that she was not Shang Guan Zhi. Pan Yue was startled, and quickly realized that there was something wrong with the tea.
Pan Yue gave Yang Cai Wei an antidote to sober her up. After regaining her clarity, she remembered that she had seemingly kissed Pan Yue earlier and hurriedly retreated to a room to collect herself. But someone started chasing her. The person noticed the chips in Yang Cai Wei's hand and repeatedly interrogated her, but she accidentally fell onto the stage where the wolf fight was taking place. In an attempt to save her, Pan Yue was scratched on the back by the wolf. After killing the wolf, Pan Yue took Yang Cai Wei and the other person and left.
Pan Yue recognized the person as the imposter musician who had entered a month ago and sneaked into the bridal chamber under the cover of the dim night wearing wedding attire. It was he who killed Yang Cai Wei. His reaction confirmed Pan Yue's suspicion, and in his anger, Pan Yue wanted to kill him, but Yang Cai Wei stopped him in time.
Pan Yue speculated that the reason for the murder of Yang Cai Wei was instigated by someone else, but the imposter did not confess. Shortly after, he poisoned himself and committed suicide. Unbeknownst to them, after they left, someone used their weapon to commit another murder, killing the concubine of the master of the pavilion. Zhuo Lan Jiang discovered that they had been framed and promptly informed them to leave. However, Yang Cai Wei insisted on staying behind to dissect the body.
Upon seeing Yang Cai Wei examining the corpse, Pan Yue suddenly remembered her previous appearance, but the person before them was clearly the deceased Shang Guan Zhi. Yang Cai Wei found a water ripple token on the body. Could Shang Guan Zhi's death, as well as the deaths of her parents, be related to the Water Ripple organization? The private room was already surrounded, and arrows were shot from the Life and Death Pavilion, leaving them with nowhere to hide. Yang Cai Wei was shot in the abdomen.
