Episode 6 recap: Shen Jin Zhen protected Wei Ruo Lai and helped him escape.
Wei Ruo Lai arrived early to report to Shen Tu Nan about his work. Shen Tu Nan noticed that he had been absent-minded lately and reminded him not to take it lightly. If he couldn't pass the final exam, he would be dismissed. Before three o'clock, Lin Qiao Song personally led a group of people to ambush in the lobby of the Central Bank. Wei Ruo Lai took the opportunity when there was no one in the office and took out the seal and storage slip left by Wei Ruo Chuan. He went to the lobby and waited patiently.
Shen Jin Zhen came to the Central Bank with her application. She sat in the lobby carefully observing every person coming and going. She spotted Lin Qiao Song and Biaozi disguised as someone else. Wei Ruo Lai noticed that there were many suspicious people in the lobby and became extremely scared. He went to the restroom and splashed cold water on his face, forcing himself to calm down.
Wei Ruo Lai returned to the lobby again and opened the expired "application" that he had prepared in advance. Shen Jin Zhen recognized that he was holding a newspaper with a hidden message and felt puzzled. Biaozi became suspicious of Wei Ruo Lai and went to catch him. Shen Jin Zhen looked around and, wanting to show Wei Ruo Lai the newspaper and continue their secret communication, was suddenly stopped by Secretary Huang. Shen Jin Zhen had no choice but to put the newspaper back in her bag.
Wei Ruo Lai paid for a yellow car to send Shen Jin Zhen away. Biaozi and Lin Qiao Song had been monitoring outside the Central Bank. Biaozi began suspecting Shen Jin Zhen, as she appeared at two secret meeting locations of the underground party. He advised Lin Qiao Song not to let emotions cloud his judgment, but Lin Qiao Song firmly believed in Shen Jin Zhen.
Shen Jin Zhen went to report to Xu Nuo, but she did not meet with him. Wei Ruo Lai came to meet her with the newspaper, but she didn't have a chance to give the secret signal. Xu Nuo suspected that Wei Ruo Lai was a bait set up by Lin Qiao Song and wanted to test him.
Lin Qiao Song became more and more suspicious as something seemed off. He also had doubts about Shen Jin Zhen and called the military factory to confirm if Shen Jin Zhen had gone to collect the payment. After confirming that Shen Jin Zhen didn't lie, Lin Qiao Song sent Biaozi to buy a bouquet of yellow roses. He wanted to apologize to Shen Jin Zhen. Lin Qiao Song also instructed Biaozi to inform Li Cheng Da to search Wei Ruo Lai's house.
Li Cheng Da was ordered to go to Wei Ruo Lai's house. He entered through the window and searched the place. He found a photo of Wei Ruo Lai and Wei Ruo Chuan together and realized they were brothers. When Wei Ruo Lai returned home from work, Zhou Yi asked him about the acquisition of the Commercial Bank and asked him to help sell office supplies to his relatives. Wei Ruo Lai was not interested and quickly dismissed her.
Wei Ruo Lai went back to his room and found Li Cheng Da waiting for him. Seeing the room in disarray, Wei Ruo Lai became suspicious of Li Cheng Da. Li Cheng Da admitted that he was a Communist Party member and asked Wei Ruo Lai about Wei Ruo Chuan's whereabouts. Wei Ruo Lai claimed not to know, but Li Cheng Da revealed Wei Ruo Chuan's true identity and urged Wei Ruo Lai to inform him to move quickly. Wei Ruo Lai pretended that he couldn't contact Wei Ruo Chuan, and Li Cheng Da left without further questioning.
A Wen came to deliver food to Wei Ruo Lai and asked him about Li Cheng Da as they passed each other. Wei Ruo Lai truthfully answered, and A Wen expressed concern that Wei Ruo Lai might be implicated and advised him to be cautious in his actions.
Lin Qiao Song had been waiting at the alley for Li Cheng Da. Since Li Cheng Da didn't find any clues in Wei Ruo Lai's room, except for discovering that Wei Ruo Lai and Wei Ruo Chuan were brothers, Lin Qiao Song was surprised. He instructed Li Cheng Da to gain Wei Ruo Lai's trust and find out from him who the contact person was.
Wei Ruo Lai continued to go to work as usual every day and noticed that there were many unfamiliar people lurking in the bank, making him uneasy. Shen Tu Nan came to rent a house on Qibao Street, and Zhou Yi rented a large house to him. Shen Tu Nan was recognized by Wei Ruo Lai's uncle, as he had been Shen Tu Nan's student. Wei Ruo Lai's uncle realized that Shen Tu Nan was there to inquire about Wei Ruo Lai's background, so he vouched for Wei Ruo Lai and provided detailed information about his family situation.
Biaozi went to the bank's archives to check Wei Ruo Lai's information, but Xu Nuo had already switched Wei Ruo Lai's file beforehand. It was the day of the final exam, and Wei Ruo Lai calmly answered all the questions. Secretary Huang collected the exam papers and handed them to the supervisors for grading, then gave the result sheet to Shen Tu Nan.
