Episode 18 recap: Zhao Ling Er went to Yunmeng Marsh, while Li Xiao Yao entered the capital city.
Li Xiao Yao suddenly couldn't find a reason to continue being with Zhao Ling Er. After getting heavily drunk, he aimlessly wandered the streets, not even bothering to look up when bumping into passersby. Several ruffians were preparing to teach him a lesson when they coincidentally encountered Xiao Huang, who was soliciting business. Xiao Huang praised Li Xiao Yao as the great hero who caught the female thief in Yangzhou City. The female thief would be executed in three days and asked Li Xiao Yao to be present. Suddenly, Li Xiao Yao remembered that Ji San Niang had mentioned something about the cause of his parents' death, so he hurriedly went to the prison to inquire.
Li Xiao Yao learned that Ji San Niang was arrested because of him. He promised to save Ji San Niang from prison but wanted to know the true cause of his parents' death. Ji San Niang said that the prison couldn't hold her at all, so there was no need for Li Xiao Yao to rescue her. Several years ago, Li Xiao Yao's parents went to Nanzhao to steal the Water Spirit Pearl and were surrounded and attacked by the Witch Queen, resulting in severe injuries caused by her unique and deadly invisible poison. This poison rotted the intestines, caused excruciating pain, and therefore, it was highly likely that Li Xiao Yao's parents had already died.
Li Xiao Yao felt as if the sky had fallen upon him. Zhao Ling Er's mother turned out to be his sworn enemy. That night, Li Xiao Yao didn't return to the inn and got drunk at another tavern. Zhao Ling Er was still waiting for Li Xiao Yao to leave together. Elder Shi reminded Zhao Ling Er that since Li Xiao Yao already knew the truth, he would never return to her side again. Zhao Ling Er gradually fell into despair and decided to board the passenger ship to Yunmeng Marsh with Elder Shi.
The next morning, after sobering up, Li Xiao Yao suddenly realized that the grudges of the elders were already in the past and Zhao Ling Er hadn't done anything wrong. Since he had promised to be with Zhao Ling Er forever, he should let go of the past and all its grievances. Unable to contain himself, he rushed to the inn only to find that Zhao Ling Er had already left with Elder Shi.
Lin Yue Ru reproached Li Xiao Yao for being disheartened and believed that when you love someone, you should let go of all attachments. Li Xiao Yao regained his composure and prepared to search for Zhao Ling Er again. Lin Yue Ru and Liu Jin Yuan were willing to accompany him, but they had no idea where Yunmeng Marsh was located. Liu Jin Yuan suggested returning to the capital city first, as he had many friends who could inquire about the whereabouts of Yunmeng Marsh, and they could also visit his parents along the way.
When they were close to the capital city, Li Xiao Yao and Lin Yue Ru were having a meal at a restaurant, and Liu Jin Yuan noticed a colorful butterfly trapped in a spider's web in the nearby woods. He approached and carefully untangled the threads of the spider's web. After the butterfly flew away, Liu Jin Yuan was bitten by a spider on his finger, but the wound was small, and he didn't pay much attention to it.
Anu Tang Yu secretly followed Zhao Ling Er onto the ship. Using her magic, she caused the attendants on the ship to faint. Elder Shi scolded Anu for her barbaric behavior, and Anu wanted to retaliate but clearly was no match for Elder Shi. Tang Yu apologized on her behalf, and Zhao Ling Er also stepped in to explain, which made Elder Shi relent.
Li Xiao Yao, Liu Jin Yuan, and Lin Yue Ru hurried to the capital city. In the market, Li Xiao Yao witnessed a group of ruffians stealing change from a beggar. Driven by a sense of justice, Li Xiao Yao immediately snatched back the money and returned it to the beggar. However, the beggar didn't show any gratitude and instead stared at Li Xiao Yao intently, asking if he had just used the "Flying Dragon Soars through Clouds" technique, as if recognizing an old friend.
The group returned to Liu Jin Yuan's house, and Liu Jin Yuan asked Lin Yue Ru to meet with her mother first to avoid being reprimanded himself. Yun Yi, who always doted on Lin Yue Ru, was overjoyed to see them safely home and eagerly inquired about Lin Yue Ru's progress with Li Xiao Yao after the martial arts contest.
Li Xiao Yao asked Liu Jin Yuan to quickly inquire about the location of Yunmeng Marsh.
