Episode 20 recap: Li Xiao Yao detoxifies Lin Yue Ru.

After half of Lin Yue Ru's face rotted away, she began to cough up blood. The Golden Toad Ghost Mother stood by, gloating, wanting to witness the fate of the woman who shared her destiny with an unfaithful man. Li Xiao Yao explained that Lin Yue Ru was just a good friend, but even so, he would find a way to save her. Not all men in the world are unfaithful. The two of them fought, and Li Xiao Yao snatched a mirror from the Golden Toad Ghost Mother's hand. There was a photo of the two of them on the mirror, supposedly depicting the unfaithful man. The Golden Toad Ghost Mother valued the mirror greatly and repeatedly pleaded with Li Xiao Yao not to break it. Using this as leverage, Li Xiao Yao forced the Golden Toad Ghost Mother to reveal the detoxification method.

The Five Poison Beads interact with the Heartbreak Grass, both of which are highly toxic substances. If someone goes to the cave behind the mountain and picks the Heartbreak Grass, they can save Lin Yue Ru. However, if the person picking it does not have the Five Poison Beads on them, their body will be corroded by the toxins within the time it takes for an incense stick to burn out, causing their organs to rot and die. Without much thought, Li Xiao Yao went alone to the cave behind the mountain, picked the brightly colored Heartbreak Grass, and brought it back to Lin Yue Ru. As Lin Yue Ru continuously absorbed the medicinal effects of the Heartbreak Grass, Li Xiao Yao's toxicity resurfaced.

After Lin Yue Ru's body recovered, she looked at the pale and unconscious Li Xiao Yao. She remembered the detoxification method mentioned by the Golden Toad Ghost Mother and transferred her Five Poison Beads to Li Xiao Yao. Li Xiao Yao quickly stabilized, and the two of them continued their journey.

Ghost Eagle asked Moon Worshipper why he revealed the location of the Witch Empress's stone statue to Elder Shi. Moon Worshipper claimed that everything was under his control. It turned out that Moon Worshipper had the ability of premonition, but it had exhausted ten years of his life. Now, Moon Worshipper was preparing to personally go to the Yunmeng Marsh.

Zhao Ling Er and her group approached the Yunmeng Marsh and saw desert everywhere. According to legend, the Yunmeng Marsh was a lake, and it was likely related to the stone statue of the Witch Empress. Further ahead, there was an inn. To avoid drawing attention, Elder Shi asked Zhao Ling Er to disguise herself as his granddaughter and check-in as part of a merchant caravan.

The waiter reported to the innkeeper, Ge Luo Jiao, that a merchant caravan had checked in. Ge Luo Jiao immediately replied that the caravan was a disguise. Upon seeing someone familiar standing next to Elder Shi, Ge Luo Jiao ordered her people to investigate Zhao Ling Er's identity. Elder Shi requested everyone to be cautious and, taking advantage of the early hour, Tang Yu went to investigate the surroundings.

Elder Shi was highly cautious and the waiter failed to gather information about Zhao Ling Er's identity. Ge Luo Jiao personally approached and offered a jar of old wine, steering the conversation towards Zhao Ling Er. Ge Luo Jiao claimed to have a resemblance to someone he knew and inquired about the origins of Elder Shi. Ge Luo Jiao explained that he was from the Southern Zhao region, and both of them remained on guard, unable to delve deeper into each other's backgrounds. After Ge Luo Jiao left, Elder Shi remarked that he resembled someone he had known before.

To prevent any unexpected incidents, Elder Shi planned to leave early. Ge Luo Jiao anticipated their plan and set up defenses in advance. That night, Elder Shi and Zhao Ling Er gathered in the hall when they were suddenly surrounded by Ge Luo Jiao's men. Ge Luo Jiao directly exposed Elder Shi's true intentions and revealed his own identity as a former general of the Moon Worshipper Cult. A Nu had heard his master mention Ge Luo Jiao before and felt a sense of familiarity. After getting to know each other, Ge Luo Jiao explained that the stone statue of the Witch Empress was located behind the inn. He had been hiding in the desert for ten years, solely to protect the stone statue.
