Episode 21 recap: Various forces arrived at Yunmeng Marsh, where Zhao Ling Er encountered the Witch Empress.
Zhao Ling Er suspected that the Li Sansi couple had been harmed by Baiyue, but she lacked evidence. After the Nanzhao incident, Ge Luo Jiao and the Southern Alliance King were searching for Zhao Ling Er. They heard that the stone statue of the Witch Empress was in Yunmeng Marsh. When they arrived, they found that the water had disappeared and there was a barrier near the stone statue. Only Zhao Ling Er could break it.
Zhao Ling Er asked Ge Luo Jiao to find a way to resurrect the Witch Empress. While Li Xiao Yao and Lin Yue Ru were dining at an inn, Zhao Ling Er wanted to meet them but was stopped by Elder Shi. Ge Luo Jiao agreed with Elder Shi's viewpoint because there were people in the Nanzhao court who hated the Li Sansi couple. Li Xiao Yao couldn't return to Nanzhao with Zhao Ling Er.
Ge Luo Jiao drugged their food during the meal, causing them to faint. He took the opportunity to send them away from Yunmeng Marsh, avoiding the hatred of the Nanzhao people. After the meal, Lin Yue Ru fainted first, followed closely by Li Xiao Yao.
In the evening, Zhao Ling Er quietly entered Li Xiao Yao's room and looked at him lying on the bed with a heart full of love and sorrow.

At night, Baiyue arrived near the inn, and Tang Yu secretly met with him. For the past three years, Tang Yu had been undercover for Baiyue, but he was only instructed to monitor the movements of Li Xiao Yao and Zhao Ling Er and was not asked to harm anyone.
Although he was confused about Baiyue's plan, he remained loyal. The next day, the group used a secret passage to reach the cave where the stone statue was located. A Nu accidentally touched the barrier and was thrown back. Ge Luo Jiao revealed that ten years ago, she and the Southern Alliance King found the stone statue and built a temple to protect it, but the surrounding area suddenly turned into a desert, and a barrier formed around the stone statue that prevented anyone from approaching.
However, Zhao Ling Er easily passed through the barrier and approached the stone statue, but she didn't know how to revive the Witch Empress.
Using her powers, Zhao Ling Er had a spiritual encounter with the Witch Empress. The Witch Empress revealed that they were both descendants of Nüwa and had the responsibility to protect the world and its people. The path ahead would be filled with hardships, but the Witch Empress hoped that Zhao Ling Er would persevere.
After their conversation, the Witch Empress returned to the embrace of Nüwa.
