Episode 23 recap: Feng Xuhui was delivering supplies when he got into a car accident.
Su Yun took over for Zheng Ren to perform the surgery, and He Qian was standing by worrying about Su Yun. As Su Yun looked at the projection from the gastrointestinal machine, he felt double vision and struggled through the discomfort to remove the thrombus, then instructed He Qian to suture the patient before collapsing. He Qian watched anxiously as Su Yun called out.
Su Yun woke up to hear that Zheng Ren had told him that the main force had already arrived in Nanyang Town and transported the disaster victims to the nearest checkpoint, while the team in the north had gone to the west bank of the river. Su Yun felt a bit disappointed that they didn't go there. Zheng Ren told Su Yun they needed to go to Dongyuan Township, which was the main route for the disaster victims to reach Peicheng, and it covered a larger area with more patients that would be sent there.
He Qian listened and was a bit stunned, feeling disappointed that they weren't returning to Haicheng. Su Yun explained that Nanyang Town had been connected but many other areas still needed timely treatment. He Qian passionately said the previous mission was completed, so why weren't they going home. When Jingyaowu heard who it was, Kongyu Min also told the director it wasn't their team.
Just as Jingyaowu was about to tell them it was Zheng Ren's work, he was interrupted by Kongyu Min's firm and joyful voice. Jingyaowu knew Kongyu Min held Zheng Ren in high regard. Zheng Ren inquired about the rescue workers' involvement after arriving at the site, and saw that Xiening was also there. Zheng Ren wanted to take a shower and continue fighting.
Xiening disliked being called "Director Xie". He Qian felt it was inappropriate for Su Yun to address him that way, but Su Yun didn't see any issue with it. Zheng Ren asked Su Yun to be his assistant, but Su Yun directly refused, saying he had already made a glorious return.
