Episode 13 recap: Huazhen took Luo Minmin out for a stroll.
Chen Hao and Huazhen came to Lanhe Restaurant, which was the same restaurant that had called the pawn shop earlier, and the photo had been mailed to the pawn shop from this restaurant. Huazhen had also been to this restaurant while investigating the murderer. At Lanhe Restaurant, Huazhen inquired about the staff, and the employee said that the person who cooked the mackerel dish that day was a Japanese student named Yoshida Hideo, who had just taken a month's leave. Hearing this, Chen Hao and Huazhen quietly entered the staff changing room and in Yoshida Hideo's locker, they found a Japanese school uniform and the button that Luo Minmin had clutched when she was injured.
Huazhen had seen this person before and was now more certain that this Yoshida Hideo was the murderer of the Meng couple. He and Chen Hao were planning on the way to find the school that had this kind of school uniform, when suddenly they were ambushed from behind. Fortunately, Chen Hao was quick-witted and shielded Huazhen with his own body. Afterward, Chen Hao surmised that it was Feng Guangyun's people, but he was not afraid of Feng Guangyun and continued to investigate the case.
Luo Minmin's physical recovery was almost complete, and she was helping out in the family photo studio at home, always wanting to return to the police force, lying silently in bed every day. Seeing this, her sister went to talk to their father, hoping he would support Luo Minmin in returning to work, but her father remained silent. Luo Minmin's sister then went to find Huazhen, hoping he could come to their house in the evening.
Chen Hao was puzzled, wasn't he the captain of the police force? Through the newspaper signal, Shi Junyu found the liaison of the underground party, Qiao Jianshi, who gave Shi Junyu a photo of a "poison fang" left by the Japanese puppet army in China. Qiao Jianshi also brought the news that the organization had originally planned to send him to Nanjing to rescue Deng Mingyuan, but Deng Mingyuan refused, fearing that more comrades would be sacrificed because of the rescue. Seeing Deng Mingyuan's handwritten letter, Shi Junyu was deeply moved. For the sake of the people's good life, they were ready to sacrifice at any time, which was the meaning of becoming a party member.
Qiao Jianshi also asked Shi Junyu to reactivate the radio station and take charge of the liaison between the central and Shanghai. The key to the Meng couple's bank safety deposit box had been given to the organization by Deng Mingyuan, and now the organization was giving the key to Shi Junyu. Inside were all the Meng couple's savings, which they planned to use to support the front-line military supplies and medical supplies.
Hideto Yoshida found the mahjong parlor and asked who had discovered the hiding place of Meng Duoci that day. He was told that it was the brother of Luo Minmin, whose family ran a photography studio nearby, so Hideto Yoshida and his accomplice, who had seriously injured Luo Minmin that night, planned to go there that evening, but they sent a comrade in their place to keep it secret.
Huazhen knew that Luo Minmin was in a bad mood, so he quietly took Luo Minmin out for a walk. They evaded Luo's father's surveillance and Huazhen took Luo Minmin boating by the river. The cool evening breeze by the river was refreshing, and Huazhen and Luo Minmin chatted about boating knowledge and their interesting experiences, bringing a long-lost smile to Huazhen's face.
Danger was approaching. Luo's father was punishing Luo Tianxiang and his sister at home, covering for Luo Minmin's outing. At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Luo's father opened it to find a Japanese man speaking broken Chinese, claiming to be a reporter who wanted to interview Luo Minmin about his heroic deeds and ask how they had found Meng Duoci. But Luo's father had never heard of Meng Duoci and simply drove the Japanese man away.
Just as the Japanese man was about to pull out a gun and force his way in, there was another knock on the door. The visitors were new police officers from the fourth squad, who had brought some nourishing supplies to visit Luo Minmin, unknowingly saving the family's lives. Luo's father was not polite to these friends, and it was not until Huazhen had sent Luo Minmin back that Luo's father mentioned the Japanese man claiming to be Luo Tianxiang's friend, which greatly alarmed Huazhen upon hearing that the Japanese man had also asked about Meng Duoci.
