Episode 17 recap: Hua Zhen bid farewell to his teammates.
Hua Zhen bid farewell to his teammates.Wei Dai Qing captured an underground party comrade and intended to extract useful information from him. However, despite the use of severe torture, they obtained nothing. Wei Dai Qing led the search of Zhang Runjin's residence and happened to come across a letter.
The letter was sent from Guangzhou and stated that the house rented by Zhang Runjin was unoccupied and inquired about the possibility of terminating the lease. Wei Dai Qing swiftly led a team to disguise themselves and went to Guangzhou. After deceiving the landlord, they obtained Zhang Runjin's belongings and found several identification documents in his luggage. One of the individuals in those identification documents was named "Xiang Yuansheng." All of these identification documents were forged to assist the couple Meng in their activities. Wei Dai Qing had met Xiang Yuansheng in person before, and seeing the unfamiliar photo on the identification documents made him very excited. He was currently worried about not having evidence that Hua Zhen was a communist, but unexpectedly, he was able to establish contact this time.
Wei Dai Qing didn't care whether Hua Zhen was truly a communist or not, but capturing a communist would lead to his promotion, so he was willing to do anything to label Hua Zhen as a member of the Communist Party. Hua Zhen took Duo Ci to the orphanage managed by the Salvation Society, and when they returned home for dinner, Duo Ci asked Shi Jun Yu if she knew about that orphanage. Shi Jun Yu, of course, knew and even told Duo Ci that she was one of the teachers at the orphanage. Duo Ci's parents had put in a lot of effort for those children, and they were highly respected individuals.
Duo Ci also wanted to join the organization where Shi Jun Yu was a part of. Shi Jun Yu smiled and shared some of her own past experiences. At the age of seventeen, she eagerly chose this path and even in the midst of harsh conditions, she felt as if she was basking in warm sunshine. She still believed in her choice and believed that Duo Ci would experience that moment when she grew up.
Duo Ci went to say goodbye to Hua Zhen and passed on the medicine she had prepared for Luo Min Min. Duo Ci asked Hua Zhen if he knew what kind of person she would become in the future, and Hua Zhen encouraged her to forget everything that happened here. She was only seven years old now, and in the future, she could live the life she desired and become anyone she wanted to be.
Embracing Duo Ci's young shoulders, Hua Zhen thought about everything that had happened since they first met. A few months ago, this inexperienced little girl had become much stronger after experiencing the loss of her parents. After Luo Min Min recovered from her injuries and returned to the police force, her colleagues specially prepared a resting room for her, which was decorated very warmly with flowers and clean, tidy beds. Luo Min Min was deeply moved, and the chief purposely mentioned that it was rearranged from a small storage room in the station.
Hua Zhen was preparing to leave the fourth team. Before leaving, he handed his freshly washed police uniform to Chen Hao. In a sense, they had become acquainted during their time together. Chen Hao asked Hua Zhen to personally bid farewell to everyone. Chen Hao had already lifted the disciplinary measures, and the newly recruited officers had passed their probationary assessments. Everyone was very happy, and when they saw Hua Zhen, they happily greeted him and invited him to join in the celebration.
Hua Zhen revealed his true identity to everyone and mentioned that school would be starting soon, so he had to return to continue his university studies. He apologized to everyone for using Xiang Yuansheng's name and then handed Luo Min Min the medicine Duo Ci had given her. Luo Min Min was reluctant to accept it but understood the difference between them and remained silent.
Chen Hao suggested that they take a group photo together as a keepsake. They happily went to a photography studio at Luo Min Min's home. Even though they were there to support Luo Min Min's family-owned studio, Mr. Luo still had a displeased expression. He insisted that they all face the camera and smile. Finally, they took a group photo, and everyone was smiling happily in the picture.
In the evening, while Luo Min Min was on duty at the police station, she looked at the photo of her and Hua Zhen, reminiscing about the beautiful memories they had shared. To Luo Min Min, Hua Zhen was like a shining star in the sky, unattainable and destined to be just a passing encounter. She also remembered when she was recovering from her injury, and Hua Zhen took her out for a walk, creating precious memories.
Luo Min Min's brother and sister came to visit her, and her sister, Luo Qin Qin, reminded her to see Hua Zhen again. She knew what was on her sister's mind. However, Luo Min Min denied having any feelings for Hua Zhen. But when she heard her sister say that Hua Zhen would go to the battlefield in the future, possibly never to be seen again, she couldn't help but scold her sister for such a curse.
It started raining in the evening, and Hua Zhen couldn't resist calling Luo Min Min. However, due to the bad weather, the signal was affected. Nonetheless, Hua Zhen decided to go to the police station despite the rain. When he saw Luo Min Min, with her long eyelashes and sparkling eyes, Hua Zhen claimed he came back to retrieve something. But when Luo Min Min heard that he came in the rain just to bring her a police manual, her eyes widened in surprise.
Since it was still raining outside, Hua Zhen decided to stay and chat with them for a while and leave once the rain stopped. Luo Min Min asked Hua Zhen if he chose to join the Navy because he was forcibly conscripted. Hua Zhen couldn't help but laugh and told Luo Min Min and Luo Qin Qin that his father was the Deputy Minister of Military Affairs, and his brother was also involved in politics. Luo Min Min had never heard of the Military Affairs Department and didn't understand what it was until Hua Zhen explained that it was helping Chiang Kai-shek. It was only then that they realized how different Hua Zhen was from them.
When asked why he chose to join the Navy, Hua Zhen explained that he felt China's Navy wasn't strong enough, and he wanted to contribute to the country in his own way.
