Episode 8 recap: The Luo family falsely accused Shen Dan Qing of murder.
Under Shen Dan Qing's arrangement, Luo Jizhou learned that Luo Shuang Shuang was indeed not a full-term baby but a premature infant born in July. Angered by Aunt Zhou's deception, Luo Jizhou wanted to kill Luo Shuang Shuang but was inadvertently killed by Shuang Shuang instead.Shen Dan Qing was taken away by the officials for murdering Luo Jizhou, and Aunt Zhou also accused Shen Dan Qing as the culprit. Luo Xue Er noticed the unusual behavior of Second Master Luo Jizhou and made preparations in advance. She successfully mixed the blood of Luo Jizhou and Luo Shuang Shuang to prevent future troubles. To be on the safe side, Luo Xue Er also suggested killing Li Wenpo.
On the other side, Shen Dan Qing learned that there was nothing unusual about the Luo family and sent someone to track them down, following the clues to find Li Wenpo. Xu Cheng Feng brought the informant from the black market, who sent all the beggars around the informant to a charitable organization. The informant was grateful for his kindness. When Xu Cheng Feng asked about the treasure map, the informant admitted that due to the rules of the black market, he couldn't reveal it but told Xu Cheng Feng that Shen Dan Qing went to the black market to inquire about Li Wenpo.
Shen Dan Qing successfully tracked down Li Wenpo's hiding place with the Luo family and learned that the Luo family had sent people to kill her to silence her. Unexpectedly, Xu Cheng Feng and Tianhao also followed and appeared at the scene, saving Li Wenpo from being killed. Shen Dan Qing arranged for Luo Jizhou to meet him and let Li Wenpo personally tell him that Luo Shuang Shuang was a premature baby born in July and that Aunt Zhou deliberately kept it a secret.
Although Luo Jizhou claimed to have confirmed Luo Shuang Shuang's identity through a blood test, Shen Dan Qing argued that Aunt Zhou's manipulation could have tampered with the blood test. He reminded Luo Jizhou to verify again. Luo Jizhou ordered his servant to bring Luo Shuang Shuang to the Drunken Cloud Pavilion for a meeting. Upon learning of this, Aunt Zhou and Luo Xue Er rushed to the Drunken Cloud Pavilion, fearing that the secret of their origins would be exposed.
Luo Jizhou forcefully took Luo Shuang Shuang's blood and discovered that their blood did not match, realizing that Aunt Zhou had deceived him. Enraged, Luo Jizhou wanted Luo Shuang Shuang to pay the price, but in her panic, Luo Shuang Shuang knocked Luo Jizhou down with an incense burner.
Aunt Zhou and Luo Xue Er arrived at the Drunken Cloud Pavilion and found Luo Jizhou lying on the ground. In order to help Luo Shuang Shuang evade punishment, Luo Xue Er suggested that they coordinate their stories once the officials arrived.
Shen Dan Qing noticed that Shen Zi Shan had something on his mind. From their actions with Miao the divine doctor, Shen Dan Qing realized that they were investigating the truth behind the poisoning incident involving the real Shen Dan Qing. Shen Dan Qing took the initiative to inquire about the matter and expressed that no matter the dangers they faced, as family members, she would share the burden with Shen Zi Shan.
Magistrate Bai led the Luo family to surround the Shen residence. Shen Zi Shan and Shen Dan Qing learned that the Luo family had accused Shen Dan Qing of murdering Second Master Luo Jizhou. It turned out that Aunt Zhou and her daughter had bribed Magistrate Bai with a large sum of money to shift the blame for Luo Jizhou's death onto Shen Dan Qing, who had previously met with him.
Shen Dan Qing knew her innocence. Although she admitted to meeting Luo Jizhou, she also pointed out that Aunt Zhou and her daughter, who entered the private room afterward, were equally suspicious. Magistrate Bai took both Shen Dan Qing and Aunt Zhou and her daughter to the government office for interrogation. Shen Dan Qing told Shen Zi Shan that she had noticed Luo Shuang Shuang acting suspiciously that day and that her bracelet seemed to have been hit by a hard object.
In order to prove her innocence, Shen Dan Qing requested that Magistrate Bai perform an autopsy on Luo Jizhou's body. However, when they arrived at the mortuary, they unexpectedly discovered that Luo Jizhou's body had disappeared. With the body missing, Aunt Zhou and her daughter persuaded Magistrate Bai to conclude the case quickly to avoid being charged with negligence. Soon, the constables dug up the incense burner from the Drunken Cloud Pavilion in the Shen residence's garden. Magistrate Bai used it as evidence and ordered Shen Dan Qing to be taken away. Shen Dan Qing knew that finding Luo Jizhou's body was crucial at this moment and persuaded Shen Zi Shan not to act impulsively.
Yi Qin Wang of the Da Feng Dynasty arrived at the General's Mansion and reprimanded Xu Cheng Feng for not yet completing the task of retrieving the imperial seal. Shen Zi Shan arrived at the mortuary and deduced from the traces left behind that Luo Jizhou was not dead. He followed the clues and found Luo Jizhou, who had left.
Xu Cheng Feng explained that although he had made a military pledge in this matter, it was also made in conjunction with Elder Lin, and the rewards and punishments should be determined by Elder Lin. Yi Qin Wang came to Liaocheng this time by imperial order, also to assist Xu Cheng Feng in investigating the disappearance of the imperial seal. Yi Qin Wang and Xu Cheng Feng had many conflicts before, and they did not yield to each other in their words. Xu Cheng Feng could only provide the clues he discovered because of the imperial order.
