Episode 7 recap: Nan Ya wanted to escape but was surrounded by a crowd.
Zhou Luo recalled every little detail of his interactions with Nan Ya and finally mustered the courage to record a voice message, taking this opportunity to confess his feelings to her. Unlike Wang Guihong, Nan Ya didn't wait for another man to come and redeem her. She decided to leave Nanping Town with her daughter. In order to avoid arousing suspicion, she lied and said she was taking Wan Wan to the city to visit Xu Yi's mother.
However, Hu Xiu overheard the conversation between Nan Ya and Zhou Luo and immediately told Chen Ling about it. So when Nan Ya arrived at the train station, she was blocked by Chen Ling and his men. Also surrounded were Ah Chun's husband, who happened to be the driver who brought Nan Ya.
Under Chen Ling's instigation, Nan Ya became the "bad woman" who seduced someone else's husband and eloped. The other women, who remembered how their own husbands had praised Nan Ya, became furious. They tore at Nan Ya's clothes, cursing and beating her relentlessly, while Xu Yi stood in the crowd, watching coldly.
Looking at her daughter crying, Nan Ya cast a pleading look at Zhou Luo. Understanding her intentions, Zhou Luo hugged Wan Wan and covered her eyes, taking her back home. Hu Yue and Jiang Bing Bing came out of the cinema, still immersed in the plot and unable to calm down, shedding tears for the missed opportunity of the main characters.
Inspired by the movie, Hu Yue felt that when you meet someone you like, you should bravely pursue them. She was curious about whether men preferred mature or innocent women. Jiang Bing Bing said that young men prefer mature women, while older men prefer innocent ones. Six months ago in Qingshui Town, there had been no emotional changes among the people. Zhou Luo could only gaze at the clothing store from afar, his eyes following the woman who haunted his dreams, until she disappeared at the store's entrance, unable to hide his inner disappointment.
Meanwhile, Jiang Bing Bing gave advice to Hu Yue on how to pursue Zhou Luo, teaching her how to show her feminine charm and ensuring success. At school, Hu Yue used the excuse of publishing a Macau poster to make Zhou Luo stay and write on the blackboard with her, hoping for a chance to be alone with him. Because Zhou Luo had previously helped Nan Ya, Hu Yue saw him as someone who was not bound by outdated thinking and showed great respect for girls. Her admiration for him only grew stronger, but Zhou Luo clearly didn't want to talk about it.
The next morning, Hu Yue proactively went to Nan Ya's shop to have her dress altered and subtly inquired if Nan Ya had someone she liked. Although Nan Ya felt a bit uncomfortable, she politely responded. As Nan Ya closed the shop and rode her bike back, it happened to be the time when Hu Yue and Zhou Luo finished school, but Zhou Luo and Nan Ya passed each other without a word.
Soon, Zhou Luo learned from Wan Wan that Nan Ya planned to escape. In shock, he felt panicked and at a loss for how to describe this feeling. He knew he was insignificant in Nan Ya's heart, yet he couldn't give up and went to find her. He displayed the pure, idealistic, reckless, and stubborn nature that young people should have, that relentless determination to keep pushing forward, even if it meant banging his head against a wall.
As soon as Nan Ya's departure and complete disappearance from this place came to mind, Zhou Luo was in deep pain. He held onto Nan Ya tightly, refusing to let go, expressing his love without reservation. Nan Ya had a momentary flutter in her heart, but quickly regained her composure. She hoped that Zhou Luo would understand the difference between love and liking, and that liking someone could also be an impulsive self-perceived deep affection. To her, a young boy like him liking someone was like catching a severe cold. As long as he went home, took a shower, and had a good night's sleep, he would soon forget.
Under Nan Ya's resolute insistence, Zhou Luo returned home in a daze, venting his emotions wildly. That night, Zhou Luo sat at his desk and recorded a cassette tape for Nan Ya. It contained the words he had kept buried in his heart for a long time, as if a teenager had grown up in an instant, learning to revere and fear, not daring to disturb Nan Ya's life anymore. He suddenly realized that she was his difficult path.
The small town remained the same as every other day, always filled with the mundane, noisy, and decadent, welcoming the first rays of dawn. Business owners opened their shops as usual, and men and women gathered in the convenience store gossiping as usual. No one knew at this moment, a woman was quietly preparing to evaporate from this town. Unlike Wang Guihong, Nan Ya didn't wait for another man to come and redeem her. She decided to leave Nanping Town with her daughter, using the excuse of visiting Xu Yi's mother in the city as a cover, and boarded a train after taking a bus to the train station.
Zhou Luo handed the recorded cassette tape to Nan Ya and silently followed her. He watched her enter the train station with Wan Wan, crying with tears streaming down her face and red eyes. However, just as Nan Ya boarded the train, Du Qing, Ah Chun's husband, suddenly appeared and embraced her. Immediately, a large crowd emerged from the side and forcibly pulled her off the train, taking her all the way back to the Xu family ancestral hall in Qingshui Town, cursing her as a whore who seduced other people's husbands.
As the situation spiraled out of control, more and more onlookers gathered. A group of women, like wild dogs, crazily tore at Nan Ya's clothes, verbally abused her, and beat her relentlessly. Xu Yi pretended to be a pitiful man who had been cuckolded by his wife. It was in that moment that Nan Ya saw Zhou Luo emerge from the crowd. Hearing her daughter's cries, she immediately cast a pleading look at him.
Understanding her plea, Zhou Luo held onto Wan Wan, covering her eyes, and took her away from the ancestral hall. After handing Wan Wan over to his mother, Lin Guixiang, Zhou Luo was about to go back, but he was intercepted by Chen Jun in the alley, warning him not to meddle and get into trouble. Eventually, the police arrived and dispersed the crowd. Nan Ya was left exposed to the mocking gazes of everyone, with only Hu Yue and Jiang Bing Bing, two innocent and kind-hearted girls, quickly taking off their school uniform jackets to cover her body.
That night, accompanied by Zhou Luo, Nan Ya walked out of the house and undressed, plunging into the cold river water. She turned around and looked at the equally naked Zhou Luo, questioning him about what he really wanted to gain.
