Episode 9 recap: Chen Ling confessed to her relationship with Xu Yi.
Chen Ling confessed the truth to her father, stating that Xu Yi couldn't possibly have killed Nan Ya because on the day of the incident, he was with her all the time before returning home. Furthermore, he promised to initiate a divorce with Nan Ya. In addition, Chen Ling proved that the Daqiao Bridge case was orchestrated by Xu Jian. He begged Xu Yi to take part in the project, but Xu Jian's own greed caused the collapse of the bridge. If this matter is investigated, Xu Yi bears little responsibility and there is no reason for him to commit murder.
Upon hearing this, Lao Chen became furious and immediately collapsed. Afterwards, Xu Jian confessed to the police that Xu Yi was behind many things regarding the bridge and that he had instructed Xu Jian to establish a company with reliable connections, which was essentially a means of funneling money to him. Xu Jian's biggest dissatisfaction was that for many years, he had been covering up for Xu Yi, not only providing financial support but also concealing Xu Yi's affair with Nan Ya.

She also saw Xu Jian outside Xu Yi's house, suspecting that Nan Ya's relationship with him was as questionable as rumors suggested. Chen Ling also revealed that Xu Jian was responsible for the collapse of the bridge, as he had willingly taken on a portion of the project but his greed led to the bridge's failure.
In reality, Xu Yi bears little responsibility, and this incident is not enough to be a motive for murder. Lao Chen was uncontrollably furious and demanded that Chen Ling explain everything at the police station. The rest of the family arrived and tried to dissuade him, with Chen's wife pleading for their daughter, but Lao Chen refused. While having breakfast, Lin Fang Lu coincidentally encountered Teacher Zheng and felt proud seeing Lin Fang Lu becoming an excellent detective. Teacher Zheng was pleased with this development.

For many years, Xu Jian relied on Xu Yi to secure construction projects and support his family. The livelihood of the entire family depended on Xu Yi, so naturally, they followed his every word.
