Episode 12 recap: Lu Xiao Lu and Bai Lan are working hard together to go to Shanghai.
Lu Xiao Lu's mother invited Bai Lan to have a meal and started talking about how she wanted to leave herself after falling in love, and asked Bai Lan if she knew what was going on. Lu Xiao Lu heard that Li Guang Nan had some trouble, so he rushed over to see, only to find that Hu Laoda saw Lu Da Jiang in trouble and started causing trouble, and even asked Lu Xiao Lu to crawl under his crotch! Lu Xiao Lu apologized to Bai Lan for skipping class and explained that he wanted to go to Shanghai with her, but he couldn't ignore Li Guang Nan's situation!

They quietly approached and discovered that Long Jiao was hiding inside, holding a book. Then they heard someone looking for Long Jiao. Lu Xiao Lu and Li Guang Nan quickly covered Long Jiao and went to deal with those two people. The two people started complaining that Long Jiao wasn't working and that no one was repairing the equipment. Lu Xiao Lu and Li Guang Nan began to cover for Long Jiao, saying that he might be slacking off somewhere. If they found him, they should call him back. After hearing this, the two people left.
Li Guang Nan and Lu Xiao Lu turned around and released Long Jiao. They asked him why he was reading a high school chemistry book. Long Jiao explained that the factory's performance was not good, so he wanted to take the adult college entrance examination. Li Guang Nan didn't approve of it, but Lu Xiao Lu thought it was a good thing.

Qin Juan mentioned that Bai Lan didn't like it there. Qin Juan also praised Lu Xiao Lu for being loyal to his friends and said that he would never let them be bullied. This gave Li Guang Nan an idea because Lu Xiao Lu wouldn't abandon his friends.
Shortly after, Lu Xiao Lu received news about Li Guang Nan getting into trouble. Lu Xiao Lu immediately rushed over and found out that it was because of Hu Laoda. Lu Xiao Lu decided to go in alone while asking Chang Jiao and Niu Xiao Ying to wait outside. Hu Laoda started to harass Lu Xiao Lu, but Lu Xiao Lu gave a signal, and smoke bombs were thrown inside, creating a distraction. Lu Xiao Lu took the opportunity to protect Li Guang Nan and run out.
Later, the group gathered for a meal. Li Guang Nan kept implying to Lu Xiao Lu that they shouldn't leave him alone. He even suggested that Lu Xiao Lu should open a milk tea shop with him and offered money as an incentive. Lu Xiao Lu agreed to the idea. Afterward, Lu Xiao Lu and the others became busy researching about milk tea, causing Lu Xiao Lu to neglect his studies. Bai Lan became suspicious and Chang Jiao made up an excuse that Lu Xiao Lu's mother was sick. Bai Lan went to visit Lu Xiao Lu's home, and despite Lu Xiao Lu's efforts to hide it, Bai Lan discovered the truth. Bai Lan asked if Lu Xiao Lu didn't want to study properly, and Lu Xiao Lu honestly said that he couldn't ignore Li Guang Nan's situation.
To Lu Xiao Lu's surprise, he soon found out that Li Guang Nan had been deceiving him. Li Guang Nan admitted that he had to resort to that in order to keep Lu Xiao Lu from leaving. They had a big fight, and after that, Lu Xiao Lu focused on his studies. He went out for a Western meal with Bai Lan and their classmates but felt out of place, so he made an excuse to leave. Bai Lan noticed and followed him. They ended up eating fish ball soup together. Bai Lan expressed concern that Lu Xiao Lu might have a hard time adapting to being away from his friends and family, but Lu Xiao Lu insisted that it was his own choice.
Lu Xiao Lu then mentioned the news about Li Guang Nan's trouble. At first, he thought it was fake, but later discovered that it was Tao Jie, Lu Da Jiang's old lover. Lu Xiao Lu quickly became friendly with Tao Jie and learned about their love story. Eventually, Tao Jie decided to give the beverage contract of the dance hall to Lu Xiao Lu and Li Guang Nan. Lu Xiao Lu and Li Guang Nan reconciled after getting drunk together.
