Episode 2 recap: Mining CEO trapped in a scam.
The house is located on Zhanghua Road in a residential complex called Yujin Haoting. The apartment number is Building 6, Unit 701. Cheng Hao knew these details so well because that was his own home, not Fei Ke's house at all. Chen Shu Fa continued to narrate, stating that the first encounter with Fei Ke revealed his exceptional eloquence, and he was very familiar with the house, making it difficult to doubt that it wasn't his own.
Fei Ke also had a good knowledge of tea and brewed a special-grade Bai Mudan tea, which was first harvested eight years ago using traditional methods without frying or kneading, known for its cooling and lung-nourishing properties. As Chen Shu Fa was also a tea lover, this initial impression of Fei Ke was quite positive. Fei Ke was very familiar with the house; he cooked a table full of dishes. During the meal, Chen Shu Fa asked many questions about Fei Ke, including the house, the car, and the occupations of Fei Ke's parents.
Fei Ke didn't hide anything and openly mentioned that his father was an ordinary civil servant working in the Ministry of Land and Resources, with the surname Li, while his mother had the surname Fei. His mother worked as a master's supervisor at a prestigious university, spending her days reading and revising research papers. Chen Shu Fa found it suspicious that Fei Ke's mother, an ordinary university teacher, could afford to drive a luxury car like a Parmela.
Fei Ke explained that it was a test drive car that his uncle had discarded from his dealership, and he rarely drove it himself. After dinner, when Chen Shu Fa and Chen Jia Jia were ready to leave, Fei Ke presented a gift of tea to Chen Shu Fa, leaving him smiling from ear to ear. Although Chen Shu Fa was quite satisfied with Fei Ke, he knew that words alone were not enough and wanted to see concrete evidence.
Following that, Chen Shu Fa instructed someone to investigate, and it was indeed confirmed that there was a deputy director surnamed Li in the Ministry of Land and Resources. A month later, both sets of parents met, but Fei Ke's father had an important last-minute meeting in Beijing and couldn't make it. So Chen Shu Fa invited Fei Ke's mother for a meal, and the two sides had a pleasant conversation.
Chen Shu Fa's impression of Fei Ke's mother was that she was gentle, polite, and very cultured.
On the wedding day, Fei Ke's father was absent once again from the ceremony due to the arrival of an inspection team at his workplace. Chen Shu Fa and Fei Ke's father spoke on the phone but never met in person throughout the process.
After Fei Ke and Chen Jia Jia got married, Chen Shu Fa handed a card with ten million yuan to Fei Ke, stating it was an investment fund and hoping that Fei Ke could help him make the most of his idle money. Shortly after the wedding, Fei Ke mentioned wanting to sell the house in Yujing Haoting and buy a new one, but this time only putting Chen Jia Jia's name on the property.
There was a time gap between selling the old house and buying the new one. At Chen Jia Jia's request, Chen Shu Fa agreed to let the young couple move into his villa and live with him temporarily. Since moving in, Fei Ke made the house lively and vibrant. At Fei Ke's suggestion, Chen Shu Fa also invested in several supposedly promising projects. However, Chen Shu Fa later found out that Wei Lun Medical had already gone public and didn't require any investment at all.
Wei Lun Medical was located at Mingzhu Plaza, and Cheng Hao mentioned that it was Zhao Xiaoyang's company. He Shan also knew Zhao Xiaoyang, as the magazine she worked for had interviewed him before. However, compared to the later events, the money invested in these ventures was insignificant. By that time, there was strict scrutiny on mining permits, and Chen Shu Fa's mine was a private one without a valid permit. He couldn't extract minerals from it or find any buyers.
Through some "arrangements," Fei Ke managed to connect Chen Shu Fa with Yu Zhi Feng, the person in charge of the Zhifeng Group, which could acquire private mines. Similarly, Chen Shu Fa didn't meet Yu Zhi Feng in person. They verbally agreed to sell the mine for 260 million yuan, using two-way radios that couldn't be traced for communication, and the meeting rooms were shielded from cellphone signals.
Under the pretense of these arrangements, Fei Ke gradually took away over 40 million yuan. After he disappeared into thin air, Chen Shu Fa realized that Fei Ke was a complete scam artist. Unable to bear the blow, Chen Jia Jia cut her wrists and committed suicide.
