Episode 11 recap: Xia Guo discovered Mr. Xue's secret.
Xia Guo and Yu Jian got married in Leshan. Shortly after their marriage, Xia Guo suddenly started experiencing morning sickness. Yu Jian's mother was worried that there might be problems with the baby, especially because Xia Guo frequently wore makeup and cautious jeans. This made Yu Jian's mother even more concerned about the potential harm of cosmetics to the baby and the possibility of the jeans causing discomfort to the child. Yu Jian and his father tried to reassure her, saying that the baby was still very small and wouldn't be affected by these things.
Xia Guo thanked Yu Jian and his father for covering for her, but she knew that her mother-in-law was just looking out for her and that she could take care of herself. Yu Jian applied for a car from his company so that he could drive Xia Guo to and from work, avoiding the bumpy rides on the electric scooter. Xia Guo was touched by Yu Jian's caring gesture and expressed her gratitude.
Xia Guo's transformation happened quickly. The planning project she worked on received recognition and praise from her superiors. Additionally, in order to earn more money, Xia Guo actively sought out another project. She knew that her family was facing financial difficulties and wanted to make more money. During lunchtime, Yu Jian's mother brought food for Xia Guo and even wanted to watch her eat, which ended up delaying Xia Guo's work.
Yu Jian's mother was very thoughtless and loudly talked about Xia Guo's pregnancy at the company, asking her colleagues to take care of the pregnant woman. This made Xia Guo feel extremely embarrassed, and while they were pulling at each other, the lunchbox fell to the ground. When Xia Guo returned home to work overtime, Yu Jian's mother intentionally pulled the circuit breaker, falsely claiming that the power was out in the entire area, in order to make Xia Guo go to sleep earlier.
However, Xia Guo saw the lights on in the building across from her and realized that her mother-in-law had deceived her. So she called Yu Jian, hoping he would come back and persuade his mother. When Yu Jian arrived home, he caught his mother in the act of tampering with the circuit breaker. He was frustrated with his mother's sneaky behavior and was even more speechless when he learned from her that she had gone to Xia Guo's workplace today. Yu Jian felt that his mother was overly concerned and unnecessary to go to Xia Guo's workplace to keep an eye on her.
Yu Jian hoped that his mother would respect science and relax a bit. Xia Guo didn't come into their home just to have children and continue the family line. Wen Ya visited Yu Jian's home with a gift, and Xia Guo learned about the prepayment of the design fee. She felt uneasy because Yu Jian had never mentioned this to her. Xia Guo proactively added Wen Ya to her contacts and became even more angry when she saw Wen Ya's social media posts. Wen Ya had posted photos that Yu Jian had taken for her and described it as a beautiful day.
A woman's intuition is often sensitive, and Xia Guo could sense that Wen Ya liked Yu Jian. Combined with the fact that the two of them frequently met due to work, Xia Guo couldn't help but have misunderstandings.
Xia Guo told Yu Jian that she does not want Wen Ya to visit their home in the future and that she cannot accept it.
In Shanghai, Xia Guo has been dating Mr. Xue. She learned from her colleagues that a highly accomplished overseas returnee woman would be parachuting in as the new director of their department. After work, Xia Guo went to the supermarket to buy black pepper, and the acting director gave her some advice. The next day at the company meeting, Xia Guo realized that the person she had spoken to at the supermarket was actually the same overseas returnee woman, and her name was Li Qiu Man.
During the meeting, Li Qiu Man directly made a strong impression on Xia Guo. She had prepared a proposal for the same project in advance and presented it before Xia Guo, giving her colleagues a sense of admiration. However, Mr. Xue interrupted her and reminded Li Qiu Man that Xia Guo had already prepared with the marketing department, and their proposals were equally impressive. However, Li Qiu Man insisted on synchronously refining both proposals and having a meeting later for Mr. Xue to decide which one to adopt.
Li Qiu Man's suggestion had some merit, and Mr. Xue had no choice but to agree. After the meeting, Li Qiu Man hoped that Xia Guo could familiarize herself with the company and invited her to go home together to discuss company matters. During the meal, Li Qiu Man deliberately mentioned that her daughter, Mi Gao, is allergic to soybeans, which she inherited from her father. In fact, all the things Li Qiu Man said were conveying messages to Xia Guo. Xia Guo, who is sensitive, did pick up on some of the information and looked at Mi Gao, feeling a sense of familiarity.
Back at the company, Xia Guo secretly looked at Li Qiu Man's Weibo and discovered that Li Qiu Man and Mr. Xue graduated from the same university. In the evening, Xia Guo fell asleep on the sofa at home, and when Mr. Xue came back, he covered her with his coat. After Xia Guo woke up, she found a room key pulled out from Mr. Xue's pocket, and it belonged to Li Qiu Man. Xia Guo had a foreboding feeling and believed that she had been deceived by Mr. Xue.
