Episode 18 recap: Yu Huanjie angrily rebuked Zhuo Bu Fan.
In Quanzhou, Fujian, Zhuo Bu Fan was resting with his disciples when Yu Huanjie and his group arrived in a dusty rush to join them. Yu Huanjie berated Zhuo Bu Fan, accusing him of being heartless and ungrateful, as Senior Brother Mo Kun knew the plan but willingly sacrificed himself. Zhuo Bu Fan was shocked and remained speechless for a long time.
In the evening, Zhuo Bu Fan talked with Huo Qin about the past, mentioning how he had once used this broken sword to defeat three hundred elite warriors. Though he had talent and arrogance, he also understood the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. He was determined to continue enduring humiliation and fulfill his duty to Prince Qi. Zhuo Bu Fan and his group arrived at Futo Temple but were stopped by the venerable monk Du E, who required a password for entry.
Zhuo Bu Fan was frustrated by not having the password and the stalemate continued. Zhong Haichao informed Mr. Xie that Prince Qi had dispatched people from the martial world to search for the hidden treasure of Jingtan. Zhong Haichao did not want Prince Qi to find the treasure because he knew the prince valued him only for his identity in the Beiyang government. Furthermore, it was the Beiyang government, not Prince Qi, that had brought him to this point.
Zhong Haichao believed that the Beiyang government was the force that determined the fate of the Qing Dynasty, and he knew what the right choice was for himself. Mr. Xie appreciated Zhong Haichao's words and thought highly of his future prospects. Zhong Haichao asked Wu Lan Shan about her feelings when Mu Qing was imprisoned for his reform efforts and how she would feel if he found himself in a similar situation one day. However, Wu Lan Shan believed that Zhong Haichao, as a Beiyang general and Prince Qi's son-in-law, would not end up in such a predicament.
Although Wu Lan Shan did not explicitly reveal her feelings at the time, she had pleaded with her father on Mu Qing's behalf, only to be told by Prince Qi to give up on him directly. After all, even Emperor Guangxu was preoccupied at the time, so how could Mu Qing, a mere imperial guard, be innocent? Wu Lan Shan felt utterly helpless at the time but eventually had to accept the arrangement of fate.
Zhuo Bu Fan and his group arrived in Quanzhou, Fujian, and after inquiring for a long time, they couldn't find any information about Anhui Temple. Unexpectedly, Zhuo Bu Fan ran into Jiang Hen, who was investigating the matter. Jiang Hen informed him that Anhui Temple was now called Futo Temple and was located in the eastern part of Fujian, near the sea. Mu Qing and his group arrived in Fujian and, after some investigation by local officials, learned that Anhui Temple was located in a desolate mountain area several hundred miles away to the east, near the sea. Forty years ago, there was a flash flood, and in order to ensure the safety of the people, the abbot of Anhui Temple blew up the mountain upstream to divert the water, resulting in the entire temple being submerged.
After the flood receded, the temple remained above the water but gradually declined and changed its name to Futo Temple.
Mu Qing believed that the reason for the decline and renaming of Anhui Temple might be rooted in the hidden treasure of Jingtan. Zhuo Bu Fan was short on money, and Huo Cen intended to lend him some silver coins, but Zhuo Bu Fan refused. Huo Cen also wanted to replace Zhuo Bu Fan's sword, but Zhuo Bu Fan claimed that his current sword, though cheap, could still defeat famous swords.
Huo Cen thought that now that Yu Huanjie and the others were no longer around, the remaining disciples would follow Zhuo Bu Fan's orders. She wondered if she could be Zhuo Bu Fan's junior sister instead of his senior sister, but Zhuo Bu Fan still rejected Huo Cen's request. Wang Jialuo unexpectedly saw Yu Huanjie on a street in Fujian. He hurriedly chased after them but couldn't find their whereabouts.
Ding Yu was sent to Fujian to assist Wang Jialuo, and General Long Chi used his connections to send the Beiyang Army to support them. Yu Huanjie found Zhuo Bu Fan and angrily rebuked him for being untrustworthy and using the lives of their martial brothers and seniors to pave his own path. Zhuo Bu Fan admitted that he had deceived them in Shanxi but claimed it was a necessary move. He also didn't think he had done anything wrong. Everything he did was for the sake of the sword sect.
Yu Huanjie knew that their senior brother had planned from the beginning to use himself as bait to elevate the sect. He even urged Yu Huanjie not to hate Zhuo Bu Fan. Yu Huanjie warned Zhuo Bu Fan to remember this day, as it was an opportunity gained at the cost of their senior brother, Huo Qin, and their martial brothers' lives. Yu Huanjie also stated that once they found the hidden treasure, he would personally avenge their senior brother and martial brothers by killing Zhuo Bu Fan.
The next day, Zhuo Bu Fan and his group arrived at Futo Temple. Zhuo Bu Fan told the abbot that they were sent by the heir of Bodhi to retrieve something, but he didn't know the password. Naturally, the abbot ignored them. At the same time, Mu Qing and his group also arrived. They fought once again, and Mu Qing was almost injured in the battle against Zhuo Bu Fan. At a critical moment, the abbot, Du E, intervened and saved Mu Qing. Although Zhuo Bu Fan had exceptional sword skills, he was no match for Du E and was quickly defeated.
Mu Qing was invited into the temple by the abbot, while Du E blocked Zhuo Bu Fan and his group from entering. The abbot wanted Mu Qing to meet him alone, but Liu Lin intervened and stated that the heir of Bodhi should deliver the item to the Alliance directly. She then recited the password that Tan Xian had told her to remember.
