Episode 3 recap: Mu Qing and Gege used to be lovers.

Mu Qing planned to bring Chen Wu back to the yamen for custody, which scared Chen Wu and made his face pale. Seizing the opportunity, he broke free from the guard and smashed his head against the corner of the table, committing suicide, because he knew that life would be worse than death once he entered the yamen. Mu Qing left with his men but was intercepted by Wang Jialuo. Wang Jialuo accused Mu Qing of killing his case target, but Mu Qing disdainfully stated that the laws of the Qing Dynasty were only made for people like them. Afterwards, Mu Qing left with his men, leaving Wang Jialuo helpless. He discovered that he was being followed, and it turned out to be Lin An Jing. She insisted on investigating the murderer together with Wang Jialuo, so Wang Jialuo, after careful consideration, took her to Tianjin.

Back at the yamen, Mu Qing examined the bodies of the nine people who were killed. Based on his experience, he quickly concluded that these people had been whipped and strangled, indicating that they were tortured for confessions. The nine victims had some martial arts skills, so the person who killed them should have had strong martial arts skills and expertise in using poison. They dressed in a distinctive western style. Mu Qing's first thought was the Rongtian Sword Sect and Zhuo Bufan, but Zhuo Bufan was a righteous swordsman in the martial world and should not be involved in worldly disputes, which puzzled him.

Cunqing interrogated the undercover guard Han He and he revealed the secret that the treasure map was incomplete. On the other side, Jiang Hen came to see Prince Qi and informed him of the origin and details of the hidden treasure in Jingtan. It was only then that Prince Qi gained the confidence to plan a rebellion. Jiang Hen described Zhuo Bufan as a once-in-a-century genius swordsman and he worried that even the Rongtian Sword Sect would not be able to control such a treasure.

Prince Qi was not worried about this. Zhuo Bufan only wanted a headquarters and the title of the number one sword sect in the world, which was not difficult for him to achieve. Zhuo Bufan became his pawn. Zhuo Bufan entrusted the secret to Yu Huanjie, and only the two of them and the senior sister knew about it.

The Rongtian Sword Sect divided into four groups and headed to Shanghai, pretending to be members of the Allied Forces to meet with Tan Xian and obtain clues to the treasure.

Cunqing informed Getai that Prince Qi was sending people to find Tan Xian because Tan Xian held the secret of the treasure map. His rebellion had already been set in motion, and they had to find the clues to the treasure map before him. Cunqing instructed Getai to immediately head to Tianjin to meet up with Mu Qing and find ways to uncover the clues to the treasure map. Getai's task was not only to assist but also to closely monitor Mu Qing, and if he showed any signs of disloyalty, he should be killed immediately.

On the other side, Prince Qi also discussed Cunqing with Jiang Hen, referring to him as someone who even brought the rebellious Men San Dao out of prison in order to find the clues to the treasure map. Jiang Hen expressed his intention to go there immediately and assist Zhuo Bufan. Prince Qi stated that they not only needed to help but also to be vigilant. Wang Jialuo also arrived in Tianjin and searched for clues at a pawnshop. He learned that Mu Qing had been there, and an old hat was taken by a woman dressed in western style.

Mu Qing encountered Jiang Hen, and Jiang Hen led him to a secluded corner where they engaged in a fight. Jiang Hen revealed Mu Qing's identity and then left, giving a clear warning. Mu Qing wanted to chase after him, but Jiang Hen disappeared. Getai told Mu Qing the secret of the treasure map and explained Cunqing's orders to prevent Prince Qi from seizing the clues to the treasure map. Mu Qing sorted out the complicated situation and decided to go to Shanghai the next day. At that moment, Mu Qing was attracted by a special fragrance emanating from a waiter carrying dishes. After inquiring, he learned that it was given by a female guest upstairs. Mu Qing immediately went upstairs to the guest's room, and inside was the person he had been longing for, Princess Wu Lan Shan, the daughter of Prince Qi.

Wu Lan Shan was somewhat surprised by Mu Qing's arrival. She did not expect to meet under such circumstances. They had once had a beautiful love affair, but circumstances had changed. Mu Qing ended up in prison, and she had already married. Now that they met again, they could only accept this fact and hide their true emotions.
