Episode 7 recap: Zhuo Bu Fan intercepted Mu Qing.
Zhuo Bu Fan saw through Tan Xian and Liu Lin's plan, so he instructed Huo Cen to infiltrate the hotel and force Tan Xian to reveal his secret. Meanwhile, Zhuo Bu Fan intercepted Mu Qing on the street, and the two engaged in a brief fight. Zhuo Bu Fan praised Mu Qing for his fast, fierce, and steady swordplay. However, after sixty moves, neither of them could determine the outcome. Nevertheless, Zhuo Bu Fan believed that within a maximum of one hundred moves, Mu Qing would definitely be defeated by his own sword.
Mu Qing believed that Zhuo Bu Fan might not necessarily win against him because he was willing to fight to the death. Inside the hotel, Huo Cen found Tan Xian in a room and used poison to force him to reveal what he had given to the Alliance. Tan Xian resisted the pressure of the poison from Huo Cen and deliberately diverted his attention, pretending to destroy the confidential documents. Seeing the documents almost completely destroyed, Tan Xian also took poison and committed suicide.
Huo Cen hurriedly informed Zhuo Bu Fan of Tan Xian's suicide by poison and revealed that the documents left for the Alliance had been burned, and the lead was now lost. With Tan Xian dead, Zhuo Bu Fan did not want to continue the battle. Moreover, he did not want to be an enemy of the court. Mu Qing believed that Zhuo Bu Fan was suspected of stealing the secret treasures of the Wen Yuan Ge and participating in treason, both of which were capital offenses.
Zhuo Bu Fan did not want to continue the fight, so he took the opportunity to leave with Huo Cen. Mu Qing hurriedly went to the hotel and was infuriated by the sight of the burned letter and the dead Tan Xian. After Huo Cen and Zhuo Bu Fan left, Mu Qing seized the opportunity to tell Zhuo Bu Fan why she allowed Tan Xian to commit suicide, revealing that when the letter was burned, she saw the words "The thing is hidden in the tomb, Fenzhou Prefecture."
Zhuo Bu Fan believed that the secret of the Jingtan Treasury was in Fenzhou Prefecture, and the tomb referred to the tomb of the successor of the Southern Shaolin. Mu Qing, willing to take responsibility for the poor guarding situation, accused the chief of the patrol station, and learned that the order to guard Tan Xian came from the chairman of the public board, but the real order was sent from overseas. Mu Qing advised the chief of the patrol station to disguise himself as if he were transferring Tan Xian away, and as an exchange condition, he hoped to search Tan Xian's room and floor.
Mu Qing searched Tan Xian's room and discovered that there were trays of food that had been delivered but remained untouched. Later, he found a letter hidden in the tray on Tan Xian's body, realizing that someone would call Tan Xian at night, and this person was likely the real contact. Mu Qing answered the phone call, but the other party sensed something was wrong and abruptly hung up the call.
Mu Qing had no clues in the investigation. After thinking all night, he still suspected something was wrong with Zhuo Bu Fan's Rongtian Ridge. Last night, Huo Cen went to the hotel and met Tan Xian, but Mu Qing wasn't sure if Tan Xian was dead or alive when Huo Cen saw him. He wasn't certain if Huo Cen killed Tan Xian after reading the confidential letter. Now, all he could do was to track Zhuo Bu Fan and his group and have the Gateai send people to search the major railway stations.
Wang Jialuo woke up and learned that Gateai had saved him. He expressed his gratitude for saving his life. Mu Qing wanted to give the reward money to Wang Jialuo and asked him to return to Dagutu. He also assured Wang Jialuo that the Ministry of Internal Affairs would continue to investigate the case. Wang Jialuo found out that Zhuo Bu Fan hadn't been captured by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and insisted on staying to continue tracking Zhuo Bu Fan.
Prince Qi had made unusual progress in searching for the Jingtan Treasury in less than a month. Now he wanted to use Mu Qing to confront Zhuo Bu Fan and reduce his own exposure to risk. Zhuo Bu Fan intended to stay in Shanghai for one more day. When asked by his senior martial brother about the reason, Zhuo Bu Fan explained that they had found something that was now in Shanxi. However, he learned that Prince Qi had arrived in Shanghai and planned to meet him before leaving.
Zhuo Bu Fan accompanied his senior martial brother Yu Huanjie to pay respects to Prince Qi, but Prince Qi was not available to meet them at the moment. Although the steward arranged lunch for the two, Zhuo Bu Fan was not patient enough to wait, while Yu Huanjie advised him to be patient. Wu Lan Shan learned that Mu Qing and Gateai were also working on a case in Shanghai and instructed her maid to deliver a letter to help.
Liu Lin waited at the railway station but couldn't find Tan Xian, so she returned to the hotel. Finally, Zhuo Bu Fan met Prince Qi. He informed Prince Qi about the location of the missing part of the treasure map in Fenzhou Prefecture, Shanxi. Prince Qi promised that once the treasure was found, the martial arts scriptures inside would belong to the Rongtian Sect, and the sect would be recognized as the top sect in the world in the name of the court.
Prince Qi told Zhuo Bu Fan that the Bodhi successor had died six years ago and hoped this information would help Zhuo Bu Fan find the treasure. Learning that Mu Qing was keeping an eye on Zhuo Bu Fan, Prince Qi also promised to help Zhuo Bu Fan resolve this trouble tonight.
