Episode 29 recap: Su Xing and Lin Shi Man met and reached a cooperation agreement.
Su Xing and his group had an intense gunfight with Ah Hui and his people. They had wanted to capture Ah Hui alive, but he managed to escape. Ah Biao blamed Su Xing for letting him get away, saying this mistake would bring misfortune to him and his brothers, and inevitably raise the suspicion of the boss. As Ah Biao predicted, he reported the situation to Zhang Shao Mu and suspected there was a communist mole hidden deep within the cargo.
Zhang Shao Mu could not confirm the identity of the mole, so he told Ah Hui to handle the matter, saying it's better to mistakenly kill than to let the mole go. Su Xing secretly found Lin Shi Man to try to get Ah Hui's whereabouts, but Lin Shi Man said she didn't know his hiding place, though she had another important message.
At the celebration banquet, the head of the police department suddenly appeared and publicly praised Li Wen Bo's investigative skills, saying he would recommend Li for an exemplary police officer award from the Governor. After the third round of drinks, the police chief pulled Zhang Shao Mu aside and told him to stop investigating, saying the Hong Kong government needed the smooth acquisition of Tong Jiang Nan's experimental research, no matter how complicated the case.
At home, Tong Jiang Nan entertained Zhang Shao Mu, but Su Xing unexpectedly showed up. Su Xing directly expressed his desire to return to the motherland with the teacher and resume their past lives, while Tong Sheng persuaded Zhang Shao Mu to let go of his prejudices and grievances.
Before the meal, Tong Jiang Nan gave a toast, thanking Zhang Shao Mu for avenging the Tong family, and hoping Su Xing wouldn't forget his original aspiration. During the meal, Su Xing and Zhang Shao Mu appeared harmonious on the surface, but each had their own thoughts. Su Xing asked Tong Jiang Nan if he had found a ship to go north, and Tong Jiang Nan did not reveal Zhang Shao Mu's ship-finding efforts, but instead wanted to know Su Xing's future plans, to which Su Xing said he would continue to learn from Tong Jiang Nan.
That night, Zhang Shao Mu learned from Ah Hui that Lin Shi Man had pleaded with the police chief, so he considered incorporating her and Ah Biao into his own forces for the dangerous missions.
After Dang Xun Qi's death, Ah Biao and the others were left without an organization, so Lin Shi Man took Ah Hui to find Ah Biao.
Zhang Shao-mu returned to school to report in, and An Ni, representing the Governor, came to visit him and expressed that he would be awarded a medal for bravery. Ah Biao, when no one was paying attention, put a note in the mailbox and ordered his subordinates to quickly evacuate and abandon the surveillance of the Tong family.
At the school, Chen Xue-wei saw that Zhang Shao-mu had been released and excitedly ran to hug him, and Tong Sheng took the opportunity to leave. Chen Xue-wei blamed Zhang Shao-mu for going directly to the Tong family after being released, saying that she had paid so much for him, but he had always only Tong Sheng in his heart, and then she ran away crying. Tong Jiang-nan gathered the democratic activists and revealed that Zhang Shao-mu's friend would soon arrive in Hong Kong, and it would not be long before they would sail north.
Li Wen-bo asked Cha Liang-jie about Zhang Shao-mu, but Cha Liang-jie did not know much about this person, and he knew that the English and Chinese School had taken bribes, so he could not investigate openly and could only act secretly. Su Xing, Wang Da-long, and Ah Biao met and reminded him not to act rashly, and for Ah Biao's safety, the top priority was to terminate the operation and not to return to the Secret Bureau.
Ah Biao completely changed his view of the Communist Party and insisted on going back to infiltrate in order to provide them with more intelligence. Su Xing could only agree with Ah Biao's request, warning him to protect his own safety. Li Wen-bo was not satisfied with Zhang Shao-mu's case and continued to investigate the Tong family, hoping that Tong Jiang-nan would keep a clear eye on the people around him.
However, Tong Jiang-nan did not welcome Li Wen-bo, saying that the release of Zhang Shao-mu was an order given by the Governor himself, and if he had any dissatisfaction, he could go to the Governor. Afterwards, Su Xing came to the school to find Zhang Shao-mu, pointing out his Kuomintang identity and warning him not to think that he could deceive everyone just as he had deceived Tong Jiang-nan and Tong Sheng. As long as he was there, he would never allow Zhang Shao-mu to harm the Tong family.
Zhang Shao-mu pretended not to understand, and Tong Sheng came to his aid, and the two parted ways in disharmony. Due to Li Wen-bo's suspicion of Zhang Shao-mu, Tong Jiang-nan felt uneasy and visited the Governor again, expressing that he did not want Li Wen-bo to continue to disturb him.
The Governor understood Tong Jiang-nan's intention and was dissatisfied with Li Wen-bo's persistent pursuit of the case, so he immediately called the English and Chinese School to suspend Li Wen-bo, under the pretext of letting him take a vacation. The police officers were very sad to hear this and came to see Li Wen-bo off, and Li Wen-bo reminded Cha Liang-jie to continue to keep an eye on Zhang Shao-mu.
