Episode 2 recap: The man in black assassinated Li Qi's benefactor's entire family.

Lord Shen reported some details he had uncovered regarding the lost palace treasures to Puyi, all centering around the Liuli Factory area. Li Qi was a righteous official, and Lord Shen, knowing his character well, gave him a bag of silver as a supplement. Rong'er was assigned to Aunt Shou Xi's group. Originally, she thought she would have more freedom to sleep, but Aunt Shuang Xi still scolded her boisterous sleeping posture.

During the night, Lord Shen received the latest news about the treasure theft and urgently summoned Li Qi. The shopkeeper Zhao told Lord Shen that the Liuli Factory had a hidden network that only served regular clients, with major buyers from all over the country, and even foreigners. There, he saw the treasures listed by Lord Shen and also identified the location of the setup.

As he prepared to leave the manor, Zhao the shopkeeper was killed by a man in black, and the servants were also murdered one by one. In the critical moment, Lord Shen instructed the butler Liu to inform Li Qi about the Huabao Studio, while he himself held off the men in black at the manor. Li Qi rushed over but only saw the bodies scattered in the courtyard. When checking on Lord Shen, Li Qi caught a glimpse of the man in black's shadow and chased after him. Li Qi engaged the assassin Wu Tian, whose martial arts skills were formidable, wielding a curved dagger. Li Qi struggled, but fortunately found a sword at a nearby stall, though ultimately Wu Tian managed to escape.

Li Qi reported the incident with Lord Shen to Puyi, who told Li Qi to thoroughly investigate the theft of the national treasures in order to avenge Lord Shen. Though Lord Shen had treated Li Qi like his own son, Li Qi was heartbroken but unable to participate in the case as it had been taken over by the police. Lu Qiu Tong, carrying a camera, inspected the crime scene and discovered some clues, sensing something suspicious about the case, and ordered his servants to investigate Lord Shen's background.

Li Qi did not find the butler Liu, so he went to check another residence of Lord Shen, where he happened to encounter Wu Tian holding Liu the butler hostage. Li Qi engaged Wu Tian in combat once again, and during the commotion, Liu managed to escape, only to accidentally run into Lu Qiu Tong's vehicle, with Lu Qiu Tong then taking Liu away.

Wu Tian, having failed, went to apologize to his superiors. As Li Qi was an elite imperial guard, he proved difficult to deal with, so they decided to take the opportunity to quickly transport the treasures needed by the foreigners according to the list out of the palace. Puyi disguised himself as a young servant to try and talk to the new palace maids about the outside world. Despite Yu De Fu's strong objections, Puyi was determined to go.

Rong'er and the others were learning palace etiquette, practicing walking with bowls balanced on their heads, when Puyi mischievously caught a grasshopper in the bushes. In trying to shake off the grasshopper, Qing'er accidentally knocked over Aunt Shuang Xi's eyebrow paste, enraging Aunt Shuang Xi, who gave Qing'er a resounding slap.

The eyebrow paste was something Puyi wanted to eat, so it couldn't be delayed. Rong'er protected Qing'er, saying she would go make a new batch. Rong'er and Qing'er went to ask Aunt Shou Xi for help, but the eyebrow paste was Aunt Shuang Xi's specialty, and Aunt Shou Xi said she couldn't replicate Aunt Shuang Xi's exact flavor, so she refused to help.

When Aunt Shou Xi went to deliver mung bean rolls to Rong Hui Tai Fei, Rong'er and Qing'er intentionally wept loudly at the door, finally managing to get an audience with Rong Hui Tai Fei. Rong'er explained the situation to Rong Hui Tai Fei, who instructed Aunt Shou Xi to try making a batch of eyebrow paste, but Aunt Shou Xi said there was not enough time within two hours. Rong'er suggested using the mung bean roll filling instead, and Rong Hui Tai Fei found it feasible, so she told Aunt Shou Xi to give it a try.
