Episode 24 recap: The true culprit has finally been revealed, and it was him all along.
Xiao Haizi, under the orders of Lord Sun, instructed Qian Dehai to put opium in Qing Er's medicine. Lord Sun left the palace to arrest Li Yumei, and just happened to run into her on the street. When he was apprehending her, he collided with a police officer, who stopped him. Lord Sun had to show his palace pass before the police would let him go. Sun Yiren then snuck up and knocked Li Yumei unconscious, taking her back to the Cold Palace to interrogate her, wanting to know what she had said to Li Qi in the Imperial Garden that day. Li Yumei played dumb, saying she didn't know what he was talking about, and that there were so many people that day, how could he know she was the one.
Sun Yiren had someone keep an eye on Li Yumei, while he went to consult the mysterious person on how to handle her. Li Qi happened to see Lord Sun leaving the Cold Palace and felt something was off, so he went in to investigate. He found Li Yumei gagged and locked inside, and heard her trying to get his attention, but then someone came to summon Li Qi urgently to the Emperor.
The Emperor called everyone together because the Hall of Blessing had caught fire. The Nationalist government demanded an explanation from Puyi. Youbao reported that his investigation found nothing unusual, but Li Qi said there were still many suspicious aspects to the fire that he would look into further and report back. Puyi ordered him to get to the bottom of the fire case. Shaoying reported back to Puyi that most of the treasures in the Hall of Blessing had been destroyed or lost, which deeply shocked and saddened Puyi. He felt it was a disgrace to his ancestors, and suspected the eunuchs were involved, warning that if they caused any more trouble he would dismiss them all without exception.
Lord Sun went to consult the mysterious person on how to deal with Li Yumei. The mysterious person said that since she was able to talk back and say Sun was guilty, it showed she had truly seen through him, and he must take action to eliminate her. While the guard was away, Li Yumei used broken ceramic shards to cut her ropes, and then used the shards to escape, hiding in the Imperial Garden, too afraid to move.
Duoluo Ma grew worried when Li Yumei did not return that night, and hurried to find Liu Er for help.
Liu Er heard about it later and hurriedly went to find Lu Qiu Tong for help. Rong Hui Tai Fei noticed that Rong Er's complexion was not good, so she found a prescription and had Qing Er and Rong Er both take some tonics. Rong Er went to see Qing Er and found her about to go out, and Qing Er said she was going to find Grand Eunuch Sun to get some incense and candles.
Li Yu Mei saw a guard patrolling near where she was hiding, so she quickly went up to him and said she was Li Yu Mei, Li Qi's sister, and asked him to take her to find Li Qi. However, the guard took her to Grand Eunuch Sun instead. Lu Qiu Tong and the others went to the police station to report it, and happened to run into the police officer who had seen someone from the palace chasing a young lady, and Liu Er said it was probably because of the palace fire case that they were trying to capture Li Yu Mei. Lu Qiu Tong and the others prepared to enter the palace to rescue Yu Mei, but were blocked by the guards at the palace gate.
Qing Er finished getting the incense and candles and happened to run into Grand Eunuch Sun who had captured Yu Mei and was preparing to kill her. Qing Er quickly evaded Sun Yi Ren's pursuit and ran out to tell Rong Er. Rong Er told Qing Er to go find Li Qi, and she went to rescue Yu Mei herself. Just as Grand Eunuch Sun was about to kill Yu Mei, Rong Er rushed out and knocked him out, preparing to untie Yu Mei, but then Sun Yi Ren woke up and slashed Rong Er with a knife. Just as Sun Yi Ren was about to kill Rong Er, Li Qi appeared and rescued her, capturing Sun Yi Ren.
Li Qi was very concerned about Rong Er's injury and wanted to accompany her to see the physician, but Rong Er refused and had Qing Er go with her instead. The physician said it was just a superficial wound and Rong Er would be fine after resting for a few days. Rong Er said she wanted to be as close with Qing Er as before.
The mysterious person, fearing that Sun Yi Ren would expose them to Puyi the next day, bribed a guard to go see Sun Yi Ren while Li Qi was investigating the clues of the fire at Jianfu Palace. It turned out the mysterious person was Grand Eunuch Yu, who was close to the Emperor.
