Episode 33 recap: A family of three moved out of the Forbidden City.
The Republican government demanded that the Empress Dowager move out of the Forbidden City as soon as possible. Shao Ying inquired if she could bring some items out of the palace before the Empress Dowager's departure, and the Republican government stated that necessary luggage could be taken, but precious items belonged to the government and could not be removed. Mother Duo followed Li Qi's advice and sent some money to Li Shouguei.
A large number of Republican troops were stationed in the Forbidden City. Yu De Fu learned that the guards were stationed tightly at all palace gates. Shao Ying told Yu De Fu that Puyi had arranged for them to be responsible for Duanfang Taifei's funeral. Puyi wanted to hold a grand funeral according to the Empress Dowager's standards, but the Republican government insisted on a simple one. Both of them felt that the Republican government did not take the imperial family seriously and did not give them dignity, and after Duanfang Taifei's funeral, the two empresses would have to move out.
Rong Hui Taifei wanted to give the Buddhist sutras she had copied to Duanfang Taifei during the funeral. Qing Er accidentally discovered that Yu De Fu had brought a group of eunuchs out of the underground passage. Yu De Fu threatened her to continue monitoring Rong Er's every move. Qing Er saw Li Qi come to visit Rong Er at the door and carefully give her a pair of gloves, feeling a little lost as to who she could rely on.
The two most important chests of treasures that Yu De Fu prepared to take out of the palace during Duanfang Taifei's funeral. Rong Er was ordered to put the embroidered items that Rong Hui Taifei wanted to give to Duanfang Taifei into the funeral items. Suddenly, Yu De Fu appeared and told her not to come here again to avoid seeing unclean things.
Rong Er met Li Qi outside and told him that it seemed Yu De Fu did not want her to touch the funeral items. They decided to first go and see how the incense ashes were scattered, only to find an underground passage in the palace, and also found two chests of treasures in the passage, finally realizing that the tomb raider was Yu De Fu, who had been pretending and wanted to take the treasures out of the palace during the empress' funeral. But the funeral was about to take place soon. Li Qi said he would go to Prince Chun's mansion to find Puyi, and Rong Er would stay to guard the treasures. Li Qi said they would come to take the treasures at any time, and it would be very dangerous for her to stay here, so he advised her to go back first to avoid raising suspicion.
Rong Er saw them constantly moving things back and forth in the Jingrenggong, and she was very anxious. Qing Er asked her what she was doing there, and Rong Er told Qing Er that she and Li Qi had discovered the matter of Yu Gong Gong's treasure transport. When they were in the underground tunnel, Qing Er thought of Yu Gong Gong's threat, so she deliberately twisted her foot to make a sound. Yu De Fu came out to check, and they hurriedly hid away without being discovered.
Duan Kang Tai Fei's funeral was about to take place immediately. Li Qi had no choice but to tell Shao Ying about Yu De Fu's treasure theft, but Shao Ying was worried that it would affect the royal family's reputation and refused to open the casket to verify the treasure. Li Qi stepped forward to block the funeral procession, and Shao Ying hurriedly had people restrain Li Qi. The funeral procession of Duan Kang Tai Fei then left the palace, and Li Qi failed to catch Yu De Fu, allowing him to successfully take the treasures out of the palace. Both of them were extremely disappointed and felt that perhaps no one in the Forbidden City cared about these matters.
Rong Er recalled all the events she had experienced from entering the palace to this point, and finally followed the Tai Fei ladies out of the palace. Rong Er followed Rong Hui Tai Fei to stay in the Grand Princess's residence, where the meals arranged by the Grand Eldest Prince were not satisfactory to the Tai Fei ladies. The vegetarian dishes served were also unappetizing, and the Tai Fei ladies decided to rest first without eating.
The Grand Eldest Prince found Rong Er and recognized her as Liu Shou Gui's daughter, Liu Rong Er, mentioning her previous disguise and refusal to marry. Rong Er stated that she was now serving under the Tai Fei ladies, and the marriage matter was up to them. She used this as an excuse to reject the Grand Eldest Prince's intention to marry her, but the Grand Eldest Prince harbored a grudge and planned to find a way to force Rong Er to marry him.
