Episode 2 recap: Lin Yi Da got married and returned to Beijing.
Hu Gui Lan asked Chen Huan if he was together with Lin Ping Ping, Chen Huan asked her what she thought of Lin Ping Ping. Hu Gui Lan said that Lin Ping Ping was good-looking, but she was from a cadre family. She had also witnessed Lin Ping Ping's princess-like temper, and Hu Gui Lan felt they were just an ordinary family. Chen Huan told her that it was still early days, he hadn't considered these things yet, and Hu Gui Lan also felt it would be better to find a girl from an ordinary family.

Hu Gui Lan was arranging the marriage for Chen Qing and He Da Hai, she gave the two of them some foreign exchange coupons to buy some things they needed for the wedding.
Hu Gui Lan also gave the two of them two pieces of fabric, and told them to find a tailor to make a wedding outfit. Hu Gui Lan gave the two of them some advice for the marriage, He Da Hai said he would definitely indulge Chen Qing. She told He Da Hai to go tell his parents, after all it was a big event for the family.
On the day of the wedding, all the neighbors came to the Lin family. Auntie Pan went to Chen Xiao Ou's room and saw the well-dressed Chen Qing, she came up and praised Chen Qing extensively. She told Chen Qing that He Da Hai was anxiously waiting outside, and she didn't let him in, as she felt that even though they were family, the proper etiquette should still be maintained.
Chen Qing and He Da Hai came out hand-in-hand, and everyone cheered for them to kiss. He Da Hai quickly kissed Chen Qing on the cheek, and then they drank the ceremonial tea together. While Lin Ping Ping was studying, Liao Jingqiu came and brought her several political practice questions for the Peking University exam.
Hu Gui Lan gave all the cash gifts from the wedding banquet to He Da Hai, as she felt they should have it.
He Da Hai took the money and discussed with Chen Qing what to do. Chen Qing felt that He Da Hai must have already figured out what to do, and told him to just say it.
He Da Hai thought of buying a television for the family, so that they could all gather around and watch TV together after dinner, snacking on melon seeds. Chen Qing also agreed with He Da Hai's suggestion, and the next day he bought a TV.
Chen Huan's teacher thought his economic articles were very good, so he gave Chen Huan some books to study further, and encouraged him that with perseverance he will succeed.

After returning home, Liao Qiu Qiu was very unhappy and wanted to have a good talk with Lin Ye Da. Lin Ping Ping went to take a bath with Zhu Qun Ying. Liao Qiu Qiu told Lin Ye Da that they had worked hard to get him back, yet he went ahead and got married without saying anything, taking a girl from the countryside.
Lin Ye Da told them about how he and Zhu Qun Ying met, and that they were going to be grandparents now. Lin Ye Da's father said he could understand Lin Ye Da's choice, and now that there was a child, they were not unreasonable people.
Chen Huan came to Lin Ping Ping's school on some business and happened to run into her chatting with her classmates. Chen Huan felt a bit dejected and was about to leave.
Lin Ye Da went to work, leaving Zhu Qun Ying alone at home. He felt settled being back in Beijing, but Zhu Qun Ying felt quite unsettled.
