Episode 3 recap: Xie Yun was punished to kneel at the doorway all night.
Xie Yun was also asked to drink a cup, and the taste was very familiar. Yin Ji deliberately wanted to provoke Xie Yun, but Xie Yun said she had no knowledge of wine, as she was just a humble maid. Xie Yun still wanted to leave, but Yin Ji became very angry and openly said that she would be sharing the room with Xiao Baobao tonight.
Before Xie Yun could react, Yin Ji called her over and took out a bracelet, asking Xie Yun to put it on Xiao Baobao. This bracelet was originally a gift from Yin Ji to Xie Yun, but Yin Ji made Xie Yun put it on Xiao Baobao's ankle instead of her own wrist.
Xie Yun knew Yin Ji was deliberately trying to provoke her, but she still did as instructed, not showing any emotions on her face. Yin Ji then took Xiao Baobao and went into the room, and Xie Yun walked out of the room, intending to leave. However, she was bound by soldiers and forced to kneel at the doorway, able to clearly hear the sound of the bell.
This was clearly a form of torture for Xie Yun. The once beautiful sound now sounded so jarring, and the memories of their past haunted her. Xie Yun eventually fainted at the doorway. When she woke up, the ropes had been untied. It had been a very painful night for Xie Yun, with Yin Ji secretly watching over her at the doorway.
Xie Yun wrote a letter to not worry her mother, but as soon as she finished, she was forced out in the middle of the night. She was ordered to go listen to Yin Ji and Xiao Baobao again tonight. Xie Yun tried to push the maid away and desperately tried to escape, but a group of bell-wearing dancers arrived, seemingly specially arranged by Yin Ji.
Xie Yun did not want to endure the suffering from the previous night again, so she jumped into the river. But in reality, nothing had actually happened the night before. Yin Ji had deliberately reopened Xie Yun's wound, and when Xiao Baobao saw it, she immediately fainted. Yin Ji then arranged for a man and a woman to engage in intimate acts, deliberately making Xie Yun hear the sound of the bells, as Yin Ji watched Xie Yun's anguish from outside.
Tonight, Yin Ji had prepared everything to torture Xie Yun, but the maid came to report that Xie Yun had jumped into the river and was missing. Hearing this, Yin Ji became extremely angry and sent everyone out to search for Xie Yun. Yin Ji knew Xie Yun was afraid of water, but she had even jumped into the river to escape from him. Did Xie Yun really want to leave him that badly?
Yin Ji was reminiscing about the time he had tormented Xie Yun by the river, when the butler suddenly informed him that there was a faint light in Xie Yun's room. It turned out that Xie Yun had already made it to the riverbank and was drying her wet clothes. Yin Ji did not inform his subordinates that Xie Yun had been found, and instead took a comb to gently brush through Xie Yun's still-damp hair.
Yin Ji's hands were very gentle, despite Xie Yun's hair being slightly tangled. The fire had gone out, and Xie Yun looked a bit cold. Yin Ji had originally planned to add more charcoal, but since the charcoal in this place was always mysteriously disappearing, he simply burned his own cloak to keep Xie Yun warm. He then embraced Xie Yun, telling her that no one else, not even herself, could control her life except for him, and that they would be together forever.
